Q: Can anybody comment on shock-reduction property? thanks

The shock absorbing properties of the handle are great. BUT, I tried to use my 16 oz hammer for framing and found that it is to lite. I moved up to a 20 oz hammer for framing and did much better.

Made is USA. And I bought 4. And I have a 2 & 4 pounds hammer. Best hammer I ever bought. They are well balance.

Unfortunately it is a 12 oz. I wish I had known this when I ordered because it looks just like my 16 which is what I wanted.

Q: Are '12oz' and 'E3-12C' marked on the head of the hammer? From the photographs, it does not appear to have any markings.

Yes: I have the 12,1 6 and 24 oz hammers, al purchased over the last 10 years: each as the weight "etched" into the head of the hammer on the side. Not sure why that's important: putting the three together you can easily differentiate between S, M, & L.
