Favorite hammer
I use this around the house and for building furniture. Size and weight is perfect for me (I’m female). Will last a long time.

Grandpa's Hammer
This is Great Hammer that will last decades with proper care and maintenance. I grew up in a builder/construction family and this is the hammer my grandpa used for 20 years or more I wish I still had the the original. Two hammer company's that were always most used and dependable were Vaughan and Estwing because they do a job well and last a long time. Lately I've been organizing my tools and upgrading some of them, so I noticed I didn't have a good medium size hammer, I have been using a workpro 10 oz. hammer for odd jobs around the house and a Vaughan 21 oz. Hammer for heavy duty jobs. I wanted something in the middle and I knew I wanted Estwing so I went with the 16 oz Curved Claw with Smooth Face, The smooth face so it won't mar whatever i'm working on and claw to give that extra prying power. The 16 oz. is perfect for control and accuracy and the metal tang means you don't have to change the handle or have a loose/wobbly hammer head. The grip is a comfortable, the plastic/rubber is very durable of course if you abuse it and use the handle to pry or scrape rough objects it's going to deteriorate and break apart, I have seen people completely wreck their tools using them in idiotic ways. The only disappointment was the Estwing Logo is NOT yellow, it's just engraved in the handle with no color added and that is not how I grew up with the logo looking, it was always yellow letters on a blue handle, I think you can still find it in some models but I'm not going to hunt it down so I'm just enjoy it for what it is. Made in the USA and at 16 oz you can do light to heavy work all day with this and it won't let you down for a lifetime. I added a pic with my vintage Stanley 6oz. ball peen hammer next to the Estwing 16oz.

Estwing! There is none better!
I lost my Dad earlier this year. He was a scaffolding carpenter for 40+ years, and as far back as I can remember he carried a 20 oz. Estwing. He was so very good and his nickname was "The Nail Driver" on and off the job. Many who reads this are too young to remember civilian CB radios, but my Dad always had one in his truck, and his "handle" was The Nail Driver. I always associated him so strongly with that 20 oz. beast. So, I decided to retire my 20 yo Plumb and purchase an Estwing for myself. I use it all of the time as a hobbyist woodworker. But since I can only emulate my Dad, I adopted the 16 oz. claw hammer. It is a great hammer and I will cherish it as a remembrance to The Nail Driver. Sorry for the sentimentality of this review.

Estwing can't be beat.
This is the only metal-handled hammer I've ever used that adequately absorbs shock so you can use it all day.

I've always wanted one ... and now I have one.
And, I am happy about the purchase. Great hammer, good price. I don't plan to buy another hammer for the rest of my life. It looks beautiful, feels wonderful in the hand, it is sturdy and feels like I can accurately use the tool with a precision and consistency when I need to be exact in my motions.A classic piece. Great addition to the tool kit. The blue rubber one is practical, the leather handle is beautiful. I went blue rubber, because I am a practical man.

Exceptional hammer and American made.
Estwing arguably makes the best hammers in the world - right here in Rockford, Illinois. That's right, Rockford gave us both Cheap Trick and Estwing Hammers.I'm an older guy and I've done a lot of home repairs and projects in my life. Tools are an investment and spending a little more to buy a good tool is wise both financially as well as allowing you to avoid the headache that cheap tools will cause. Nothing is more frustrating than a tool that breaks during a project.Estwing Hammers are fantastic and will help you get the job done. This one is a 16 oz which is good for most of your household projects. If you're going to be doing framing work you probably want to go up in weight but if you're looking for something to keep in your toolbox then you this is the right choice.
