Great wristband
The media could not be loaded. This is my initial review based on one trip using the cast net. I just used this for the first time down on the Texas coast trying to catch mullet. I was using it primarily in shallow water. I like the neoprene wrist band which is a step up from most cast nets I have used. It stays put and you don't have to worry about it coming off your wrist when you cast it. It was a little lighter than the other cast net I have and did not seem to open as good. I was still able to catch bait but not sure how it would work on a very windy day or deeper water. I would also like to have seen it come in some sort of plastic reusable case versus just in a box.

do not throw this net near structure like rocks, timber
I use heavy 1.5 lb. per foot nets for getting deep open water baits in over +20 depths when the bait runs deep due to water conditions, but thisnet is not for that purpose, the material needs to be soaked first in fabric softner and water in 5 gallon bucket for over one day, rinse it off andit supple. This net is for shallow water bait near the surface, do not throw this net near structure like rocks, timber, stained water whichyou cannot see obstructions. This net is perfect for practicing since it is not heavy and the weights are not lead, which makes it faster to "load"when baits close to you and fast moving. Most people will not spend over $50 on a cast net and these people end up not being successfulmost of the time when they go fishing, plus if they are not willing to spend that type of money on a cast net then they will not put in the same effortto keep the bait alive. My advice about fishermen, the guy who has the "Wow" cast net usually is the one you would want to go fishing with.

Worked great casting for bait off our dock
Make sure you're throwing it in sand or grassy areas, this can't take shell beds! It does like to cling to them though12-22-19 updateI've used the bait net all year fishing from my kayak, and throwing it from docks, boats, etc . . and it's held up very well with only a couple of holes from shell beds which I fixed. I've used it almost every time I've fished and I keep it in the tub on the back of my kayak. It's been all over Florida this year.I drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom of the tub so it can drain, and when I fish salt water I rinse it with a hose in the tub, let it drain then I spread it on the driveway to dry. I'm also going to add some foam to the sides of the tub in case it gets dumped from the kayak

Holy cast net
Net rotted after purchase in June 2021. Great holes showed up when I got it out of the box to practice for the spring fishing in march 2025. Just a slight pull and new holes came . Don’t buy if you want something that lasts more than 3 years.

Happy I bought this
My first cast net. I wish I had gotten the next size smaller as it takes some skill to throw and get to open up. It was a big hit at the beach and saved us from having to buy bait. It worked as it should every time I used it and had a good amount of weights on it.

OK, but not great
The net has some kind of plastic weight on the lead line that is over 35% larger than weights on my other cast nets. I've been using cast nets for over 20 years, so I understand something about them. The net is stiffer than any other mono net I have owned in the past. The larger weights must create more resistance in the water, so it sinks slower than my nets with lead weights. It would work fine on thick bait in shallow water, but if you need something for deeper water or spooky bait I would suggest buying a net with lead weights or more weight per radius foot.
