Impressive but Simple.
This EDF is amazingly simple. When used with the Spektrum Smart technology components, like a Smart battery and SAFE/AS3X receiver, it is almost foolproof. The time to put the plane together is less than an half hour sitcom on TV. The instructions are easy and there is a ton of info on YouTube about this plane. There are some items to note. Take your time and line up the components correctly when you are screwing the stabilizers and wing assembly. You don't want to strip the plastic receptacles. Set up the transmitter correctly when binding a receiver to this PNP plane. Keep airspeed up when flying. Worst thing you can do is fly too slow and stall in a turn (especially at low altitude). This plane is a perfect airframe to transition from prop planes to EDF jets. It is forgiving and tame enough to use as a trainer. I recommend using a transmitter that allows for forward programming. This makes setting up the plane for flight an easier task, plus it opens up the door for a lot more programming like using the I button as a panic button.I would place the value on this plane as above average. This plane will go from trainer to intermediate plane so there is room to grow with this aircraft. Plenty of speed if you use a 4S battery and nice and tame with a 3S battery. Well worth the money over the long haul.

Thinking about Flying a RC JET? You just found it!
For a new pilot trying to fly a Jet this is BEST IN CLASS. The 3S/4S Habu STS is the way to start! For me it overcame the fear of trying to fly a jet without losing control or crash landing. Slow enough to land, power to take off and highly maneuverable.

Fun, Stupid Fast, Not for the first time pilot
The Habu 70mm is a super fun airplane but I don’t think people should be saying it’s a good beginner airplane. That’s just not true, and honestly, a bit disingenuous. I almost put this into the trees my first flight and I’m a pretty good pilot. I got the PNP version and set up SAFE on my own. It worked, but needed significant adjustment during the first flight. My biggest concern is a new pilot is going to think this thing will “fly itself” because every fledgling YouTube star is touting as such. This is common nowadays, because they probably got one free as a promo. The new pilot should be warned, start with something else, then try this. The Good:• Stupid Fast, even with 4S• Fairly predictable and stable, good stall characteristics• Super durable but not indestructible• Landing gear is stout, but crazy bouncy• Solid construction with a great layout, hatch on top is convenient• The model in Real Flight (the simulator) is fairly accurate, but the real model is faster and harder to seeThe Bad:• Stupid Fast, it will be out of site in seconds if you are not careful• Landings are long, low, and fast (fun but tricky)• First flight can be a white knuckler, I had everything visually trimmed and it still wanted to dive into the ground. (even with SAFE, first flight is tricky in real life)• Not a good beginner airplane as marketed, but a fantastic intermediate airplane• Very jumpy in the windThe Awesome:• Looks great• Is a great size, big and beautiful, but not too big for the backseat of your car• Sounds like a jet. Lol…Overall, it has been a good experience, but I’m not a new pilot. I would call myself a seasoned intermediate pilot and this is my first EDF. This is not a “look down at your radio, then back up” airplane, it will be gone. It’s that fast. It’s tricky to tell how much throttle you’re giving it at any distance. It’s obviously slow to react to throttle so once again, full throttle bailouts are tough. My recommendations:• You need to be flying and sticking your landings consistently with a slower model before this step up. It’s not hard to fly, but minor mistakes are unforgiving.• Best beginner plane (the Carbon Cub 1.3m), best intermediate plane (the Valiant), then this airplane.First time setup:• Start with the elevator about a 1mm above where you think it should be, so about 1mm above flush where it meets the tail.• Give yourself plenty of takeoff and landing space, do not try to get a quicky first flight in your backyard.• Double check the center of gravity and do not eyeball it.• You need a Y-Harness for the Rudder/Nose wheel if you don’t want to take up another channel.Your first experience with an RC airplane is clutch. If you put this into the dirt in 15 seconds you are probably not going to want to get back on the horse. Take your time, double check everything, then have fun. First flight should be on a calm day. The Habu is very jumpy in the wind.

Take your time and practice when ever you can.
Great plane flys great and looks good in the air all the reviews are true . Safe works well when learning. And the sim helps to it just does not account for wind. So fly in calm weather till you get better .

In spite of what ANY recent review says.....UPDATE
Horizon Hobby has confirmed with me today the DONGLE and TRIAL SIM are no longer available with this. All they'll say about the recent reviews to the contrary is that those reviews are independent and do not represent Horizon Hobby. So in looking for an alternative (a separate purchase of the dongle) I've not been offered any avenue to pursue. Not a great start. It's still unassembled as I ponder it's usefulness given the experience so far.*The ones with the free offer were limited time but some are still out there. The box will clearly tell you. Local shops may still have them. I found one. The dongle and Trainer software are great. If it weren't for the fact the battery wouldn't charge on the one I ordered I may have not discovered this.Check local. They might still be waiting on the shelf for you.*
