I wanted to know what this wet shaving scene as about so I purchase the Facon DE razor and a cut throat from them. On both? I spent around $20, so the cost of entry is very low. Upon unpacking these the first thing I noticed was the weight and quality. They’re solid without being bulky and extremely well made. They are the BEST entry level razors available on Amazon or anywhere else. With both there’s a bit of a learning curve, but it’s worth it. I’ve yet to knick myself using the DE razor and it gives an extremely close & comfortable shave. I saw in some of the reviews people were complaining about the quality of the blades, saying they are thin & junk. That hasn’t been my experience at all. They’re solidly in the middle of blade sharpness which makes them incredibly forgiving while you learn how to use the razor. Make no mistake, the blades are still extremely sharp so caution is strongly encouraged. I’m EXTREMELY satisfied with my purchase and you will be too.

To be honest, due to the extremely low price, I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered the Facón butterfly safety razor with 50 blades; but having just run out of blades for my first safety razor (The King C. Gilette, which I like as well), wanting to try something slightly more aggressive but with a lighter head and longer handle because of my tendonitis, the "butterfly" head, and because my partner had fallen in love with and claimed the Gilette as hers, I figured at least one of us would find the blades usable at minimum. While this is by no means a $100+ razor, the build quality and look of the razor (which I find more my "style" than chrome, or anything shiny) is excellent, and something I'd expect to spend $25-$50 for. Having very thick (both follicle thickness and the number of follicles) "ginger" facial hair, I've found the Facón blades to be stiff, and sharp, enough that they don't deflect (not even on stubble), but forgiving enough to prevent nicks or razor burn when going against the grain. The razor itself has great control and works well for both shorter strokes, and even longer disposable razor style strokes (on "lighter" hair such as forearms). It also works great with longer beard hair, with a variety of creams and gels, without clogging up; and it also rinses quickly and cleans up easily. Can't forget that it also gives a nice clean/smooth shave! Lastly, I'm also a big fan of the comb design; no specific reason other than it works well for me. I'm new to the safety razor game and, while the King C. Gilette had already sold me, the Facón has solidified my decision to never go back to disposable razors again.

This is a nicely crafted and finished safety razor that does a decent job of shaving, although I do still get some cuts and razor burn from time to time. I’ve been using safety razors for 10+ years, so I’m pretty well aware of the technique needed for best results.For example, I change to a new blade every two shaves, no exceptions.I try to avoid pressing down and/or going against the grain, although it is not always possible.When time permits, I will use a hot, wet towel to pre-soften the beard, although that isn’t the norm due to time constraints.I use a quality shave cream, CREAMO CREAM, which comes in a plastic tube, like toothpaste, and offers a high lubricity. I sometimes pre-apply SHAVE SECRET, a proprietary oil for shaving.This is a good razor by FACON, especially considering the asking price, which is in the “budget” price point. So, for most guys, this may work good, very well or even extremely well. I’ve been using it for a month and I can say it is good, but that is about it.Can I recommend this? YES! It works well enough, especially considering the cost. Oh, and they give you 50 blades, which is really nice and appreciated. Thanks FACON!I’ve had German chromed MERKUR razors that cost multiples of this one and even they weren’t perfect.This is a good value for what you get and it should last for years.Recommended.4 STARS!
