Awesome for Glock MOS
Excellent optic for pistol, especially Glock MOS.MOS SCREWS:Mine came with the screws for the Glock MOS. After reading other reviews that said to call and ask for them, I did, only to find out that once I received the MOS screws, they had already been included. They were not labeled in the original package, so I included a picture so that you can identify the MOS screws in case they are in your package (the screw on the penny is the MOS screw).MOS INSTALLATION:I read other reviews on various sites that discussed the need for a shim or gasket from UM Tactical and also filing down the tabs on the MOS plate number 1. Neither of these are necessary. Perhaps they were at one time, but they are not necessary now. Just mount to MOS plate. I used Blue Loctite 242 on the MOS plate and torque to 13 inch pounds. I used purple Loctite 222 and torque to 12 inch pounds. I think these are the recommended specs. No problems.OPTICThis optic is fantastic. It sits really nice and low without any distracting hood. The dot is a perfect size with a lot of adjustment.I tried a milled Glock 17 years ago with Trijicon RMRs and gave up because I didn't think the technology was there yet. I started with an RMR RM05G and the glass had some magnification and fishbowl effect and a really deep magenta tint. It really wasn't very clear at all. so, I sold that and tried and RMR RM06 hoping that the LED version would have less tint. It did, but it was still magnified and fishbowled and really blue tinted. The RMRs are supposed to be so reliable, but my RM06 would flicker in and out (very common if you read around). So, I tried the Trijicon sealing plate, and a tape shim, and still had issues. I just gave up and sold it all. I do love Trijicon and have some of their scopes, but feel this is a much better optic for a MRDS pistol platform. The optical quality on this unit is much clearer with much less tint. It also has a less distracting shape without the hood ears of the RMR poking up. It also has a bigger optical window for a more forgiving presentation and shot recovery. I like the Vortex Viper much better for a pistol optic.I also prefer the brightness adjustments on one side compared to up on one side and down on the other. When placed on two sides, it is difficult to remember which one is up or down under a timer or stress. When on one side, it is much easier to know that forward is up and back is down. Also easier to manipulate without much changing of the "thumbs forward" grip compared to buttons on each side. I have no need for an auto-adjust, as I really like to select dot brightness based on the application (speed, precision, transitions, etc.)I selected the Viper over the Venom because of its lower position on the side, as I feel that this makes it easier to use when coming from using iron sights.IMPROVEMENTSThe only thing that I think could be done better would be to relocate the windage and elevation locks so that they could be locked/unlocked without removing the optic or rear sight. They should be located on the side or top.

Good Product and a great value
I purchased this Vortex Viper Red Dot for my Glock 40 MOS Gen 4. I have the pros and cons listed out from my experience with the ViperPros:Affordability: First off this is a very reliable unit for the amount of money I spent on it. It held zero throughout the couple hundred rounds of high powered 10mm I ran through my Glock.Low profile design: This fits and looks great on my Glock. I have adjustable target sights on the Glock and I could almost co-witness. If I has suppressor sights it would be perfect.Battery life: I never powered down the unit, just let it shut off after the 14 hours being on and never had to change the battery for the couple months I had it mounted.Cons:Design flaws: This was the only real issue I had with unit. First issue I have is the battery is loose under the unit, there is nothing preventing the battery from becoming jarred loose from the unit. If mounted properly this should never happen but I just didn't like the chance. Second thing is the adjustments for windage and elevation. Let me start by saying this was a pain. Once mounted the screws to unlock the windage and elevation adjustments are blocked by your rear sights. You either have to find a way to loosen/tighten the screws from an angle or remove your rear sights. If you had suppressor sights you would not be able to adjust this at all without removing it.Once I was able to get the Red Dot sighted in, I had no other issues in the red dot. I would recommend this to a friend who has time to sight in the Red Dot.

Dot defective
The media could not be loaded. I really REALLY wanted to like this MRDS and probably just got a bad unit. The install was easy. Issue I had was that the dot was only visible on the right half of the optic out of the box. Completely faded away when centered or to the left even on max brightness. I tried cleaning the emitter area, glass/reflector but was unable to get it to work. Replaced the batteries but no luck.Obviously not something I would trust to carry unless I got a replacement and it proved to work. Also I noted my zero shifted slightly when I locked in the zeroing screws. Last thing I wish this optic had was "clicks" when adjusting zero. Its a bit difficult to judge how far you've shifted the dot when zeroing compared to other optics which "click" when you adjust the windage or elevation.Opic itself looks great, just wish it functioned the way I wanted. Ive attached the video to this review and pictures of it installed on my Smith and Wesson M&P M 2.0 Compact 9 mil. The optic itself looks to be build with good materials and looks absolutely sexy. Just wish it would have worked out of the box.Edit: One last thing, for those who are new to pistol mounted optics, go with the larger dot (6 MOA vs 3.25 etc). Itll be much easier to find and works great for most people. 3.25 is probably better for those who want crazy pin point accuracy but i personally do not recommend the smaller dot for beginners or a ccw weapon. Just my personal opinion and observation! Sage dynamics has an excellent video on youtube explaining pros and cons to the dot size, recommend everyone to check that out before you make the switch to a red dot!

Best red dot
Retired SWAT officer. I bought this Dot for the price point and put it on my optic,It has adjustable brightness, holds zero, turns on every time I pick it up. This is my daily carry and i put about 1200 rounds a month through it. Highly recommend this dot and the seller.
