A captivating trip into East Asia!
Captivating History took me on a trip I didn't know I wanted (Needed!)to take!I have always found Asia (What little I knew of it.) to be interesting, so I read this collection hoping to learn more and boy, did I!Captivating History took me on a full trip to East Asia and gave me facts, dates, prehistory, history right up to the present day with charming ancient creation legends mixed in, and introduction into some of their cultures, customs and traditions.Anyone with even the slightest interest in Asian countries or their customs and cultures should read this compilation. All four books are absolutely fascinating! You won't regret taking this trip!

Excellent Idea - Rough Execution
As a history buff I REALLY REALLY wanted to enjoy this book, as I absolutely love the idea and motivation behind Enthralling History's endeavor - to consolidate select portions of history into an easy to understand and interesting booklet.I have read other books from this same publisher, and some are definitely of noticeably higher quality and more expertly put together than others - this specific one leans more towards the latter.- It repeated itself too frequently without adding anything more to the subject matter- Some parts were extremely poorly written to the point I was unable to even decipher what the author was attempting to communicate- Clearly the editor, if there even was one, was either EXTREMELY lazy or does not have a clue what they are doing, much less a firm grasp of the English language; which one would assume is a requirement when writing book in said language - there were NUMEROUS errors from simple misspellings, to incorrect dates and even a few outright contradictions to be found within the text itself- Most of the visual representations are of very low quality, as in every one I have come across in all of the Enthralling History books I have yet come across (i.e. the print is too small and/or pixelated to read, colors and shades as signified from the map keys are nonexistent as everything is in black and white with virtually no color scale gradient, cities and other areas specifically mentioned in the surrounding text are not to be found on the maps, etc.)The shoddy work and poor execution of this particular text has NOT yet stoped me from continuing to read similar books from this series (I currently own and have read over a dozen of them), but I would really prefer to see some consistency and cohesion to the writing, not to mention a more solid experienced editor.

Excellent book on the History of East Asia!
Excellent book on the History of East Asia! It gives you just enough details about China, Japan, Korea & Taiwan's history where you feel informed, but not so much that you lose interest. I read this book on Kindle while doing my weekly walks. Very interesting! I highly recommend it!

You need a new proofreader!
This is the ninth in this series that I have read. In many ways they are almost invaluable as a simple, straightforward way to teach myself about periods in history about which I do not know a great deal. I am concerned by the number of grammatical errors in the books I have read. You really need another proof reader. I cannot emphasize this too strongly. This is a flaw that really detracts from your product.

History of East Asia
Being a retired Marine I have spent some time in the Far East, including two tours of duty in Viet Nam, four tours on Okinawa (including time in Japan mainland), and even a week in Hong Kong (back when it was a British Crown Colony). Sadly, I never got to Korea and my only knowledge of Korea comes mainly from watching reruns of M*A*S*H. My wife spent some time with some Koreans who were attending what is now SNHU when they were going there to learn English and she was a volunteer. Additionally, my civilian Doctor came from China and was schooled there. So I have some knowledge of the Far East and I enjoyed most of time there (except some of the days in Viet Nam). Because of all this, I have always kept getting all kinds of information on the Far East and its culture. This book (or these books, depending on how you look at it) were very informative completing a more complete knowledge of this area. Thank you Captivating History for completing my knowledge of this area of a part of the world I spent so many wonderful years of my life.

Short but still informative
There are few indications of thoughts which I believe that for the careful reader may point out certain reasons and directions of author thinking. But still easy and smooth reading.

Unsurprisingly, there are no problems to report on this end."History of East Asia" is platinum within a field of gold.
