Yeah, I mowed my sprinkler head too
If you're considering one of these, chances are you ran over one with your mower like I did. My local hardware store had other versions, but this was the same model number as the one I broke, and I wasn't exactly sure what the "water saving" version would do. How's that work, anyway? Wouldn't you create the same effect by shortening the watering times?Anyway, I need to match the flow rates of the other sprinklers. They're not hard to replace or adjust. If it weren't for the dirt, it's as easy as changing a lightbulb. The way I got the old one out was to drive a shovel into the dirt in a circle about 8 inches from the center of the sprinkler head. Then I lifted off the "dirt doughnut with grass sprinkles" and flipped it onto the lawn. Then I did the finer work with a small shovel, and dug down around the base of the sprinker head. With no dirt touching the sprinker head or connecting pipe, it is an easy matter to unscrew it by hand.Sometimes it doesn't go so smoothly. I've had the little connector pipe break a couple of times. If that happens, don't worry. You just need 2 more things: a new piece of threaded pipe and a "1399 STUB EXTRACTOR WRENCH" that helps you get the old one out. You force the stub extractor wrench into the pipe, and its sharp sides bite into the smooth inside diameter. When you turn the T handle, the connector pipe unscrews from the socket. Once you've got the broken connector out, you can wrap the new connector's threads with teflon tape, and screw it loosely into the sprinkler head. Then wrap the connector with fresh Teflon Threaded Seal Tape, 1/2" x 260", and screw the new one back on. Fill in the dirt, replace the grassy doughnut, and it's installed! To adjust it, just rotate the little clips until it cycles correctly, and turn the little interference screw if it shoots too far.Beware the delivery date. For me, delivery took about 3 weeks. It was within the estimated time, so I was forewarned, but still, it seems like a long time.

Put It In The Ground, Spray It All Around
I like these Maxi-Paw sprinklers because I have a wrench which lets me unscrew the innards of the malfunctioning Maxi-Paw and replace it with the new Maxi-Paw innards. That way I do not have to dig up the entire (rather large) sprinkler each time.

There are newer models however
As a newbie when it comes to Rainbird sprinkler systems, I purchased this as a replacement for a non operating head. It was easy to replace and very easy to adjust the arc. I recommend this product.

The sprinkler works BUT...
The sprinkler was a direct replacement and worked fine, but it did not include the 7 nozzles.
