Westcott Compact Fixed Box Opener, Uses Slice Ceramic Blades (16473)

This is a perfect box opener than cannot cut fingers. It has a small ceramic blade that is not sharp but still works great to open boxes. It has a blade cover but it’s not even necessary to use as the blade is not sharp. It’s small enough to keep one in the car, office, kitchen etc.

love the tool, does the job it is made to do! Very disappointed when I decided to purchase a couple more. The original price I paid in September 2020 was $3.29 each, now an inflated $8.00 a piece. Definitely worth 3.29, overpriced at 8. Not the right time or spirit to almost triple the cost.

I bought this to replace another like item that I lost. This works great for opening packages in a way to not cut what is inside or yourself. The reason for the lower rating than 5 starts is there is a cover for the blade that you can retract but there is another lock button that I presume is for locking that cover in place. That seems to have no effect either way and is unnecessary. Price was right and is very handy to use.

Handy little gadget for cutting clippings and plastic wrappings. The blade is very small and poses no risk of cutting like a razor edge can do. There is also a cutter protector that covers the tiny blade when not in use.

Fell apart after a few uses opening boxes and packages received in the mail. Loved that it was magnetic and was handy on the fridge, but low quality.

Great. I use it to cut slits in the back of my stickers. It's quite sharp, it will cut through vinyl, but if you laminate your stickers and don't push too hard, this cuts the perfect slit.

I'm guessing that this would work well on paper tape, or for cutting out coupons.But as for plastic clear tape, this just skates right over it. Even using a lot of pressure and force, it seems as determined not to cut it as it is not to cut you.It will dig in and score cardboard very well, but the blade is too small to really actually cut cardboard, just score it.If you're looking at something to open boxes or plastic packaging, I'd look for something else.

It’s great. I open packages with it. Food containers. It’s nothing compared to a box cutter. You can see that. That’s all.
