Does not need to be reset if you turn off/on the power to the outlet. Perfect for Xmas lights on a programable outlet.
So I am using this on an outside light socket to provide GFCI protection for my Christmas lights. Now here is the interesting part, I have a wifi switch in the basement that controls when that outside outlet turns on and off, that way I can program the christmas lights to turn on at sunset and off at 1am. The reason I did not install an outside GFCI outlet is that many GFCI outlets need to be reset after they loose power, so every time I turn off/on that outlet I would have to go outside and reset the GFCI, BUT... this inline GFCI cord does NOT need to be reset, it stays set and is ready to go when the switch gets turned off and on. So if you are using it on an outlet that gets turned on and off then this plug will work great, it looks very heavy duty and perfect for the occasional Christmas lights or to power the blower on out inflatable bounce house, the two things that get plugged into that outlet.

Good product at a fair price
Working in power plants we go through these like pretty quickly. It is nice to be able to replace the ones that have been either damaged or "lost" at a decent price.

Unit works just like any auto GFCI device. It will not reset on its own after a fault.
The AUTO or “AR” versions of these GFCI are NOT AUTO RESET. The term "reset" has been linked to the GFCI line inadvertently. The original naming scheme was to show the AUTO power-up operations with reset. The manual versions were named to show MANUAL power-up operation with reset. There is no such thing as an automatic resetting GFCI. This would be like a self-healing fuse. It is illegal, against safety codes and human protection to design and sell a GFCI that can automatically reset itself after tripping under a fault condition. So if the GFCI trips due to any fault - you must manually reset the device - if you transfer the device from one outlet to another - then you do not have to reset the device.

Kept on Tripping
I purchased this to replace a 15 amp online gfci extension cord the had 3 inputs. The 15 amp unit tripped twice in the last year and I realized that it may have been caused because it was used on a dedicated line to my furnace that had a 20 amp circuit breaker.I bought this unit to be compatible with the 20 amp circuit breaker thinking I might have reached the 15 amp capacity and tripped the other unit because of the that. This unit tripped every time the blower turned on after the purging fan did its job. Attempted 5 times …. I couldn't get beyond that so I returned it.
