OtterBox Symmetry Series Case for iPhone 12 Pro Max - Earl Grey (VETIVER/Climbing Ivy)

Great case

This is a great bright color. Very sturdy and firm. Other than being very difficult to get on the phone, it was a great addition to my phone. It took quite a lot of hand strength to get it over the edges of the phone, but once it snapped in place it fit perfectly.

For anyone who is complaining that this case is hard to put on the phone... it will also be the same people who would complain if it didn't fit perfectly either. Cases are pretty cut and dry, either they fit your phone correctly (which ultimately is how they KEEP you phone protected) or they fit incorrectly (where as they damage your phone either due to extra movement within the case or during a drop because of gappage). There is a way to put on every case and you will have to figure that out. That being said, I have owned every variation of cases the Otterbox makes and I used to use the commuter cases, but in the last 5 or 6 years I have switched to the symmetry cases due to being more of a minimalistic case. I am very good with my phones (I haven't had to replace a screen since 2010) and am actually about to have the battery in my iPhone 12 Pro Max changed since I bought it new upon launch release. Though I tend to stick with minimalistic cases, they have all proven to be effective enough to keep my phones safe even though they have been dropped in the past. So PLEASE stop complaining about the fit... it needs to be snug to be safe!!!

This is my first Otterbox case & it does not disappoint! Beautiful & high quality, my mother complimented that it looks like lace…not sticky to the touch after awhile like my old Speck case & not yellowing whatsoever like my old Spigen case, highly recommend, i drop my phone a lot & this case can take it, it’s very protective & it looks so lovely against my gold iPhone 12 Pro Max & it’s super comfortable to hold in my hand, it’s not chunky or clunky or too thick, it’s actually just right, one small annoyance is dust can accumulate on the side where the on/off ringer switch is because the switch is burrowed so deeply in there because the case is so protective, so I just clean it out every so often using a cotton swab

Yeah yeah, all of the reviews talk about how hard it is to install/ take off the case. And they are correct, to a point. It IS a tight fit. But it’s not undoable. And no, It’s not too small for the iPhone 12 max pro.I actually purchased this case twice because I bought both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, unsure of which size phone I would prefer. I also bought multiple cases to see which one I would like more (spoiler: this case was the winner) So I’ve put this on and taken it off both phones multiple times. Follow the below instructions and you will be just fine. I won’t say it’s particularly “easy” the first time but I can now get it on and off in under 60 seconds.INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:The top right and bottom left corners are super firm. The top left and the bottom right corners are the more flexible sides.Always insert the top of the phone (with all the buttons) first.Follow the order below:1) top right2) top left3) bottom left4) bottom rightI have no idea why they didn’t include these instructions or a simple diagram showing how to install it. That’s really the reason I took off one star. But the actual case is great. It’s true to Otterbox quality. It appears super durable. I have no qualms about my phone not having enough protection if I drop it or my horse tramples it. The buttons and cut outs align and work seamlessly. Both the front screen and the back camera bumpers allow forgiving clearance. It charges just fine wirelessly through the case (I don’t have a MagSafe charger yet, through. So I can’t comment on that specific compatibility, but I’m not worried. The thickness is within the Apple clearance standards for the magnet.) I’m using this case with the Spigen EZ Fit glass screen protector and the clearance is perfect in my opinion.I’m not at all concerned about the clear case yellowing. I would never trust a cheaper phone case brand with the quality standards necessary for a clear case. But otterbox I have faith in. (I will be sure to update this review if that changes.) I’ve had this case on my phone for over a month now and I haven’t been easy on it. I’m a horse girl. I’ve taken this phone to the barn and dropped it into dirt, hay, mud, and manure. It’s still as clear as the day I got it.Side note: One of the pros to having a case that fits soooo snugly: it’s pretty difficult for dirt, dust, and debris to wedge itself between the phone and the case. You all know what I’m talking about. And with a clear case, this is a decently important feature if you’re anything like me who gets super annoyed by seeing a trapped hair underneath the case. I was sure to clean my phone and the case properly before installation so I would begin without debris. Even with the above conditions I’ve put it through it is still nicely clean and clear of all the yuck.One difference between the Otterbox symmetry case for the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max that I will point out: on the iPhone 12 Pro case, the entire back surface of the case is flush. In other words, when you set it down on a table, it lays flat. It still has plenty of clearance for the back camera, but the case is thick enough that it doesn’t need an external bummer to provide any clearance.On the iPhone 12 Pro Max though, the camera lens protrudes from the back significantly more because of the upgrade in the camera. Therefore the bumper is external (it sticks out) and when you lay it flat on a table it top of the phone is raised ever so slightly above the bottom half. This also means that it can “wobble” a bit. It’s not super noticeable, we’re talking about millimeters here, and you have to make an effort to press on the corners for it to wobble, but if that is something that would bother you then just take note. I uploaded a video (albeit terrible) to demonstrate what I mean.Clear wallflower design notes: I love me a clear phone case. I don’t know why. It just feels simple and classy and it shows off the natural beauty of the iPhone that typical cases cover up. I love love love that they offer a clear case with a few pretty embellishments (the gold flowers) that offers me the best of both worlds and is truly designed to compliment the beauty of the iPhone. (Let’s be real: a lot of the otterbox cases are ugly. So I’m happy they are branching out into more designs.) But, I also really wish the bumper/ edge around the case was also gold/ embellished, similar to the actual design of the iPhone. I purchased multiple phone cases to test. I actually liked the appearance of a few of the other brands a little more. But this is the case I ultimately ended up choosing because it was better quality and offered noticeably more protection, while still being beautiful... The practical side of me would not allow me to spend $1k on a phone and then skimp on a case whose appearance may be “prettier” but it also doesn’t give the protection that a device with this price tag deserves.

I have had this case on for 7 months and it has protected my phone from many dings and drops. The case has suffered minimal scuff marks on the edges, and the color is still vibrant and looks clean. I also used a tempered glass screen protector that did crack, but my phone has remained intact underneath !

I’ve had this cover before and it was time for a new one, I like the flowers and the color.It does yellow around the edges over time but I’m okay with that,it just looks like the gold color on the back.

Good protection without a lot of bulk, so the phone is still comfortable in a pocket.I combined the case with a DIMONCOAT screen protector, and it has worked well. I've dropped my phone while working off an 8" ladder, and the case protected it 100%. It did crack the screen protector, so it did its job as well.Has a decent grip, but it's not tacky/rubbery.I really love the Earl Grey color! I've always had black cases, and I'm really surprised at how "visible" it is laying on a counter or table (when I invariably start looking for where I left my phone).If I were to buy a new phone tomorrow, I'd buy this case again.
