Exactly what I wanted. Written instructions could have been better
I am a Luddite. I am not afraid to say it. I like old school stuff.I have a bug zapper hanging from the ceiling in my garage, plugged into the outlet that serves the garage door opener. I like it there, but it makes it hard to turn it on and off, so I knew I needed a timer to plug it into. When I was searching for one, the first ones to pop up were the digital ones. Now, I'm not stupid. I have a computer and a smartphone, so I do know how to program some things, but the last thing I wanted was another digital device that would probably need to be re-programmed every time the power went out. So I wanted to keep it old school.I found this mechanical timer by GE and it looked exactly like what I wanted, so I ordered it. I had never used one before, so I needed some guidance on how to set it up. I watched a video that showed pushing down the tabs to set the amount of time you wanted your device to run. That looked easy, except my tabs wouldn't push down no matter how hard I tried. Right before I started swearing, I went to the product page and there was an instruction to PULL THE TABS UP FIRST. Well, that made all the difference in the world, and it would have been nice to have had that information not only in the video, but also in the written instructions (which were very hard to read, by the way).I finally got my timer set and got it plugged into my garage outlet. It's working like a champ and my bug zapper is busy zapping bugs, as it should. This is a great product, and I highly recommend it. If you buy one, don't forget the part about the tabs. You're welcome.

Does what it's supposed to do- I've included more specific instructions...
It took me a few minutes to figure it out, but it works great. I'm using it to time my aquarium light. It only takes up one space on the wall outlet and it's grounded, which is great. It's also much cheaper than the timers that are marketed for use with aquariums. I've read some reviews where this timer makes noise. I've only had mine for about 2 weeks, but it's totally silent. I'll update if that changes.Since the instructions are kinda vague, I'm including how I set mine up. Note: it comes with all the tabs already pressed down. To set up the timer, you first have to pop all the tabs up, then plug the timer in (I also plugged in my light at this point, but I'm not sure if that's necessary). Press down the tabs that represent the times you want your device to be turned on. The sun icon represents noon and the moon represents midnight. The daytime section goes from 7am to 6pm, the nighttime section goes from 7pm to 6am. You won't be able to press down a tab if the current-time arrow is pointing to it. If that's the case, just turn the time dial away from that tab, then you can press it down. Once you have your tabs set the way you want them, set the current time by turning the dial. Make sure the switch at the top of the timer is turned to the timer on position and that whatever device you're plugging into it is also turned on. If you want to turn the device on when it's scheduled to be off, turn the switch the other way. Just make sure to flip it back so the timer can run again.

Works Great, No Issues, But a Little Noisy--Not Recommended for Bedrooms or Offices When You Need Absolute Focus
I bought one of these with the grounded outlet, I had also purchased one of the non-grounded outlet ones. They are very similar with the exception of, well, the outlet type! This one also started pretty quiet. But after a few days it began to get a little noisier like the other ones. It works just fine and it is really easy to program or adjust. I have no problems with the accuracy of it and it does its job.But like the other ones, I would avoid this in a bedroom or room where people will sleep (like in a studio apartment or guest room/office). In fact, I would consider something else in an office or testing room where you need absolute focus. You will hear it, and after hours it may get on your nerves.Overall, it works great and does the job it is supposed too. I just wish it was a little quieter!

Fit my needs
I bought this to save energy by reducing the air conditioner time by two hours, then turning on automatically a portable fan to complete my sleeping time. Before acquire this item I used to interrupt my sleep to turn on the fan manually, but this is not longer necessary.About this product: It's compact, beauty design, makes not noise, works perfectly and accurate. Once you understand how it works, it's easy to program and use.Negative aspects:1. The instructions are not illustrated and are not so friendly.2. At the beginning, it's not clear if the timer switches are up or down (you have to figure out yourself)3. Be careful when plugging it to the power outlet or you could miss program it. The timer switches are too sensitive and you can accidentally press down undesirable ones.Far from that, I'm giving a five start because it works perfectly.

This is heavy duty model, user friendly, for high amp/high voltage appliances.
After 5 timers, this one was easy to use, silent, small, workable buttons. I bought multiple timers to plug into an appliance cord that connects to a high voltage space heater. Some had buttons that wouldn't move at all, some were too short to move easily, some had printing so tiny it was a pain to adjust, this one I am keeping, the price was right and it replaced an older GE model from 20 years ago, I still use it, too, but as a back up, as it is large with a cover plate and tends to tick the seconds. If you need a fan or light timer try the 2 plug version, uses less amps.If I ever buy another heavy duty timer to handle the amp of a heater or AC I would buy another one of these.

Works great. Annoying tick.
It works as you'd expect. Stays on time. Light comes on and off. Only trouble is that it makes all sorts of mechanical sounds, the most annoying being this seeming every second tick. It got so bad I had to unplug it. I'll use it again but won't plug it back in until I need to.
