Ordered this as a backup/extra key for our 2017 Toyota Rav4 XLE (no push to start) and we had no problem programming the key with our Thinkdiag OBD Scanner. It accepted first try and is fully functional. I just need to stop somewhere and have the blade cut now. I will update review if there are any problems with that...Prior to ordering, we confirmed that it was a type H key (stamped on the bottom of the blade, near the key fob) and made sure it was a 3 button version to match our existing key.I know that not everyone has a programmer at hand like the thinkdiag but I can't see any reason why a locksmith or the dealer would not be able to program it for you, if needed.Happy with purchaseUodate:after having the blade cut, the key would not start the engine. It requires programming the chip separately from the Fob (one function to program buttons and a separate function to update new key with correct chip ID#.) Once again, I used our Thinkdiag and had no problems matching the chip. Key is now fully functional.Still happy with purchase.

First, let me say the quality of the key is very good. It is durable and looks 100% like the original. However, the key programming did not work. I took the key to a locksmith and he was not able to program the key. Why not? Because the aftermarket FCC ID code did not match the original key. And NO key will work unless that key can be matched with your factory original FCC ID code (code is inside the key on the remote unit..see picture). In my case, my aftermarket key didn't have an FCC ID code. Therefore, here is my advice: Don't waste your time on any off these keys. Go directly to a locksmith and have them order the correct key and program it correctly. It is absolutely worth it...otherwise you will waste time and money (I had to pay $20 to the locksmith for his attempt to program the key that did not work). I paid $175 to get another key (cost included: key, programming, cut key and taxes). It maybe cheaper than that because this is NY.

Product was fine, I just ordered the wrong item

I took away one star for this product only because it is apparently only functional if your vehicle was built in the USA. It turns out that my vehicle was built in Canada, and this product CANNOT be set up for the remote lock/unlock function. However, it can be set up to function in the door keyhole and in the ignition so the car can be driven. My first clue: the videos on YouTube that showed how to set up the FOB did not work. So I went to a locksmith who cut the key and set it up to function in the door and ignition, but could NOT get the buttons on the key to work. He had to go on line to check AND call Toyota dealership, and came to the conclusion that this key will not work. Dealership said that OEM key costs $180 before cutting and programming, so I said "forget that!" I'll just use the key as is..... Buyer beware....

I bought this because it said it fit a 2016 RAV4 but it wasn’t compatible. I was able to get it cut but it couldn’t be programmed for my car. Aside from that, it’s good quality and made well if it works for your car.

These are definitely lesser quality than factory but that was expected. I programmed using Tom’s key and took to local locksmith to get cut. The locksmith will tell you they won’t guarantee the key will work because it wasn’t purchased from them, but mine both worked just fine. Saves a decent amount of money if you’re willing to diy.

Love the item. As good as the original. Highly recommended.
