Every vegetable gardener should have one!
We started noticing potato beetles last year and a couple other pests so we ordered this book. It has been AMAZING! We've been a lot more aware of the bugs we see in the garden and this book makes it so easy to look up if they are a good bug or a pest. It also lists ideas for how to manage pests, bugs that are beneficial for pests and has great pictures of the pest, eggs, etc. We have already used it lot over the last year, it was a great purchase and would definitely recommend!

Worth every penny
I'm impressed with the format and information in this book. Not only do you get information on the unwanted insects but also on those good bugs that might help the problem. The format is usable and the pictures are high quality.

Every gardener could benefit from this book!
I am in my third year of gardening and I needed help identifying beneficial bugs from the ones damaging my hard work. This book came to the rescue! With quality photos and easy-to-read detailed information on glossy pages, it's a comprehensive guide. Whether you're looking up a specific plant to identify pests or trying to learn about a bug you've found, this guide breaks it all down for you. It offers great ideas on combating these pests for a successful harvest. I highly recommend it for all gardeners. I only wish I had purchased it sooner—it would have saved me a lot of frustration, time, and heartache.

Outstanding
I'm always looking for resources to help solve my vegetable gardening "challenges." As I'm fond of saying, gardening is not only a love affair, it's warfare! The Vegetable Garden Pest Handbook is the perfect resource to help me win more of the annual battles I deal with to maximize my harvest and increase my gardening joy. I love this book. It's succinct, extremely well-organized, EASY TO USE, and fun (unusual for reference material, but it is indeed light and "fun"). And the up close and personal photographs, of the various garden enemies (insects) is second-to-none. This reference, although written by a Master Gardener, is short on jargon, and long on practicality. And I love the DIY section that includes Pest Control Projects (trapping/eliminating my dreaded cucumber beetles -- never used these strategies before, but I'm heading out to my local supermarket to get yellow solo cups, petroleum jelly, cotton swabs and clove oil). The author, Susan Mulvihill, provides clear and concise information to identify common garden pests, and the proven organic means of dealing with them. This is a resource I will return to again and again, as I aim to increase my tomato harvest for making salsa and "gravy" and that perfect hot sauce that brings tears of joy to my palate. Thank you Susan!

Good Information
The book is well organized, has excellent photographs, and gives clear descriptions and advice. I wish we knew which part of the country was best served by this book. I was not able to find the “critter“ I was looking for, for my Texas garden.

Fantastic Books for Gardeners! Just What I Was Looking For!
This is an excellent book for gardeners - whether beginner or experienced! The book pages are of good quality paper, and have color photos throughout. I've only made it about 40 pages in, and I love it. I also bought another book by her, "The Vegetable Garden Problem Solver Handbook".I selected the spiral-bound books, and I am really glad I did, as it is much easier for me to handle and read. You can also find Susan Mulvihill's videos on Youtube and on her blog. I have watched several of her videos and have learned a lot!
