A very nice set - The felt board overlay is well done: flush all around, and the colors were as vibrant as I had hoped based on pictures I perused prior to buying. There's no plastic gammon pieces here, either; the pieces are the heavy-weight ceramic-type that have the weight and feel you'd expect from a quality backgammon set; the same goes for the shakers, which also are felt-lined and well put together. The dice (2-black, 2-white) are the typical hard dice you'd expect, and are not miniatures I've read complaints about with other backgammon sets.The briefcase is well made, with sturdy metal hinges and pretty tight 'lock' and 'unlock', which is important. While I knew the case surely wasn't leather, it is a far better 'faux' leather than I was expecting - The material is thick, has the texture of leather, and is really seamless throughout the case, both the outside and on all case edges on the inside, to include even the bar and the piece & die storage areas - The same material and craftsmanship is on the shakers.As for the packaging, you could not ask for any better packaging, the makers took that as much into consideration as the craftsmanship I detailed above - The box it arrived in is sturdy cardboard, not the typical cheap board game box; inside of that, the case itself is tightly wrapped in protecting matting covering the ENTIRE case... Inside the case, all pieces are sleeved in clear plastic and are tightly secured inside theily nicer storage areas. Shakers wrapped in same protective film as the case. VERY well thought-out packaging end-to-end.This would make an excellent gift to yourself, or for a friend or family member that appreciates the game and wants a quality set.

Very nice board! My friend has a Freistadtler professional board (costs about $1300) and we got tired of carrying his set back and forth between houses. I bought this one as an alternative to keep at my house and was definitely not disappointed. It's a great size, and looks very nice. The case, felt and pieces are also really good quality. Even my friend can't get over how nice it is. Thanks for selling such a nice set at a reasonable price.

This backgammon set is very portable (we take it to a favorite pub and play while sharing a pitcher of beer). It's well made and very attractive. It is a bit expensive (but all good sets are...I just don't know why HA). Our only "complaint" is that the material of the board gathers dust and cat hair like mad. We keep a lint roller right next to the board.

The board is okay, but okay is not acceptable when you pay 140.00. The problem is when you touch the board itself, it leaves a streak, making it appeardirty because of the material it’s made from. I decided to return it because if it looked dirty from one game, I can’t imagine what it would look like after numerous games. I needed to buy a new packing box because the original cardboard was already recycled and then pay shipping. You also can’t simply take the product to Kohl’s (like most things on Amazon), it has to go to UPS. This would be fine if it didn’t cost almost 100$ to pack and ship it. So much for “free returns”.

however the checkers themselfs are uria stone very slippery, and feel cheap... Already came broken. Edit: now the clasp also broke, im very disappointed on the build quality.

The board is beautiful and smooth and everything great size in fact however the pieces just felt cheap and looked cheap compared to the board i ultimately went with that looked marbled.
