A cheap print not by Penguin
A cheap version by Amazon badly printed like a lot of the books I have ordered - when did Amazon start doing this? It should be made clear and I will stop buying books from Amazon

Flaubert in Egypt
Flaubert opens a window on mid-19C Egypt.A very accessible book, created from a collection of letters and journals from his trip. Flaubert's descriptive skills add a further dimension to this historic travel book. You can't put this one down.

Colonial Racism
Contains 19th century French colonial attitudes that might shock: slavery, degrading images of women, prostitutes, anti-Arab, male and female castration, shooting of wild life, birds. There is no essay in this Penguin edition attempting to contextualise or challenge these views for the modern reader. Post Civil Rights and BLM a re-evaluation by Penguin would seem timely.Approach with a critical eye.

Not a Penguin Product
This is not an official Penguin product, it is a fake copy. Extremely disappointing.

Romantic sensibility
The sweet naivety in the experience of a journey on a historic moment that will not be repeated. This work shows an extraordinary romantic sensibility. The scene of the first contact "in loco" with the Sphinx is extraordinary and a good example.
