Conflicting Base Weight Requirements
First there is a conflict in the base weight recommendation between the Amazon summary and included instruction booklet. The booklet calls for 264# of an unspecified combination of sand and water. The Amazon summary calls for 330# of sand and 44# of water. I contacted Grand Patio, and they said to use Amazon recommendation. I opted for sand only since the base will be out in a CT winter and managed to get 290# of sand through the two smallish ports by tipping up the base to get the sand to the front until it was too heavy to lift. Moving the base afterwards is at least a two-person job. Take your best guess on placement before filling because this unit does not rotate.Assembly was straightforward and the diagrammatic instructions were easy to follow. The metal components are of substantial thickness and look to be capable of lasting many years. The Sunbrella fabric blocks 98% of UV which is a key feature.I had bought a cover, but it turned out to be unnecessary since one was included in the box, so back it went. If you are not a tall drink of water, a ladder is required to put on the cover. All in all, I am pleased with the purchase. I will be tracking the sun and fine tuning the placement of the base to provide the best compromise between morning and afternoon sun.

New 12 footer
Beautiful umbrella, appears to be very sturdy and well made. Initial reviews can be misleading since it's durability cannot be fully determined. As of now, 1 week in, it's a great looking and easy to use patio umbrella.

Great quality, looks good, good price
Just put mine together a couple days ago, so can't say much about longevity. The whole thing is very well built and quite sturdy. All the parts fit together perfectly, including the bolts. Longest part of the installation was filling the base with four bags of sand. The water was easy. I was surprised that while the umbrella doesn't pivot horizontally, with two people you can move the base without killing yourself. Compared to other similar umbrellas, this is really a good value for the price.

Well made product with great customer service!
My original order was apparently delivered to another part of the State by the carrier (Fed-Ex), not Grand Patio's fault. When I contacted Grand Patio they responded within 24 hrs and immediately shipped out a new umbrella. Although it did not make it here in time by Father's Day, it didn't matter because we were rained out anyway. Grand Patio kept me informed throughout the replacement process and followed up several times to make certain I was happy with my purchase. Their customer service dept. is 5 Stars!!! In respect to the umbrella itself, it is very well made and I used nearly six 50lb bags of sand to stabilize the base. Set up was straight forward and not that difficult. Although we have only used it on one occasion due to heavy rain/wind (40-60 mph wind gusts), it did not budge (make sure it is properly folded down/lowered and in the protective cover!) If anything changes I will update my review. They appear to stand behind their products and I would not hesitate in purchasing another from this company. 5 Stars!!!

Absolutely wonderful customer service
The patio umbrella is a really nice setup. Would recommend it to anyone. We had a problem with our unit. A sudden wind came and blew the the umbrella back and forth before we could collapse the canopy. As a result a critical piece was broken. Contacted service and very quickly they resolved the problem to our satisfaction.

Easy Assembly / Easy to Use / Great Quality
This umbrella was really easy to assemble out of the box. It’s sturdy and shades great by the pool! I went ahead and ordered a second one for another area of the patio! Great umbrellas!

Could use some improvements
Easy to assemble, need 2 people. Easy to use, great shade. Quality is good.-1 star because it doesn’t have a stabilizer, blows around in mild wind, can’t use on windy days-1 Star because the crank isn’t stationary, must insert each use.

We like this umbrella, but it's not perfect!
We really like this umbrella. It is beautiful and appears to be durable. Time will tell about that. It was very easy to assemble. We looked at the video. Very easy to open and close and to adjust. I think it is safer to close the umbrella at night and secure it with the strap provided. We also close it if strong winds are predicted. It doesn't have bells and whistles but all we wanted was an umbrella that is easy to use and looks good and keeps the sun off our patio. We have to empty the water out of the base in winter, for sure, so instead of mixing sand and water in it we filled it completely with water. Then we purchased, from Amazon, cloth sandbags. They come as a two pack. The ones that are somewhat skinny and long lay across the front of this base and look just fine. They each hold 50 lbs of sand. The bags have two carrying straps on each. So easy to move when we put the umbrella away for the winter. Hopefully the cloth of the umbrella will withstand the sun and last for several years. Having wheels on the base appears to be useless. Too heavy to move it anyway. Be sure to place it where it will stay before filling the base. As others have said, the fact that the umbrella swings slightly and dips with even a little breeze takes some getting used to. So far I can't figure out any way to tether it so this stops. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution.
