Works Great
I bought this Processor for the first computer I built. (See complete build list below.) In the past I was dealing with a Dell Netbook that was slow and could barely power a 19" monitor. The speeds of this processor is awesome! Its like it never thinks but I know it does. When I look at processors processing(sounds like a dr sues word) I see all 4 with 1-10% of their ability used. Granted for what I do on the computer (Web browsing some Excel and MS Word, music streaming and videos) I may have overbought, but I wanted to be able to keep the system for many years. And for the few dollars more then the step down, this felt like a great buy!I normally use two 21" widescreen monitors, but often hook this rig up to my 55" Samsung LED and it never skips a beat! As a critical part of the PC, I think its good not to skimp on a processor. I didn't need the unlocked one as I have no need to overclock and this run pretty quick.OH so you don't get fooled like I did, it goes come with a HeatSink/FAN. I wasn't sure if it did and bought another one, but I'm glad I did as it never gets above 90F (coupled with the case I bought -- see parts list)Here is the complete build list for my PC (Monitors and TV not included I did this all for under $1000!!!!) Great for Everything
I'm a developer as well as a gamer, so when I was looking to build a PC last year the first thing I wanted to look at was an i7 and I started my build based around it. This little guy never stops amazing me. Having quad cores means you can get insane speeds running complex programs or multiple at once. The dual threading allows you to even push that higher, so when I compile code it zips through like nobody's business. I pair this with a Radeon 6770 graphics card and games run beautifully and I've never managed to really bog the processor down. Installing is as easy as any other processor, so if you know what you're doing it'll be a snap. If you don't, then seek guides or videos on how to do it before you start putting it on the board. It's not hard, but you don't want to risk damaging the fragile pins. Box comes with everything you need, which isn't much more than some documentation and a sticker. If you're into overclocking you'll need the 2600k but this thing is powerful enough stock that I haven't even considered that. All in all, everything I expected and more.

Intel Core i7 2600 Great product!!!
Well, I bought this CPU as an inversion, i'm a designer, musician and gamer. I really wanted to have my own great PC, and even without the Intel Graphics 3000 that i7 2600K has as an advantage, games and programming software runs eficiently, even two, or more of them at the same time. If you want one of the most powerfull CPU on the market, buy it. You'll never regret. These are the components of my machine, I don't know what kind of PC do you want. But really, this CPU works too eficiently. Games and programming software runs eficiently, even two, or more of them at the same time (in my case). Just buy it. You'll never regret.CPU: Intel Core i7 2600Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 PRO (REV 3.0)RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 8 GB (2X4 GB) PC3-12800 1600mHz DDR3Video Card: EVGA GTX 560 Ti Superclocked DSOther components: i think are less important at this review.Games:Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2011Resident Evil 5Alice Madness ReturnsFable 3Software:Adobe CS5Guitar Pro 6Finalle 2011And more software...

Faster than my i5 but almost the same as my Quad 9650
What can i say, got this at a good price $279. It is fast, Using it with Cooler Master Hyper 212, ASRock H67M-ITX Socket 1155/ Intel H67/ SATA3&USB3.0/ A&V&GbE/ Mini-ITX Motherboard, Kingston Technology HyperX Blu 8GB 1333MHz DDR3. But i have two Intel quad 9650,ECS motherboards, 8gb DDR2 800mhz and it seems not much of a difference only when i'm converting huge video files. But i wanted something new, just so i can say i have an i7 hahahaha. But if you compare prices on both processors, they are about the same price.

Weak Intel Graphics
First off I must preface this by saying that this is definitely a 5 star CPU. Super fast and so far reliable, but my beef is with this "on-chip HD graphics" crap that I was basically lied to about.Intel has always had horrible graphics. But with all the hype coming with these processors about being good for gaming and video etc, I thought maybe they had stepped up their game. I can't even get Aero to run smoothly. Trying to get a Windows Experience Index rating is impossible because it crashes when testing video playback. This thing can't even play Tomb Raider II smoothly (yes, the Windows 95 game). I can't imagine trying to play any modern games without a real video card.I bought this with a motherboard that had HDMI on it to use with this processor's graphics chip. I'm writing this review in the hopes that nobody else will make my mistake and use the money saved to just buy a video card. Trust me, my outdated GeForce 210 is WAY better than this, and that is what I will be using until I can get something better.
