Great Book
If you know a child who is obsessed with colors, this is a great book for them. I bought this for a friend’s son and he loves it. The quality of the book is great and it shows colors beyond the basics.

Colors are cool
Love the simplicity of this book. Each page with is varying hues of the color are well done and beautiful. The last page is my granddaughter’s favorite with all the colors as objects.

My second one that I have it is GREAT
As an editor and designer and new mom, I've spent the first year of my son's life looking for striking and original ways to introduce him to letters and colors. I've been looking for good design, in other words. The Charley Harper series have been my go-to books, but now we have a new addition to our list of favorites. Pantone's "Colors" takes those basic colors, matches them with a good strong image (red = wagon), uses various shades of the color in the image, and pairs that image page with a grid page of 20 shades. My son spent 20 minutes this afternoon turning from page to page, looking both at the images and the color charts. As a writer and designer, I loved the pairing of the actual Pantone numbers with fun descriptive names for the colors, and I loved the working of those colors into the main image. This is the kind of smart, unforgettable work I look for to help teach my son. Frankly, it's the kind of smart, unforgettable work I wish I could do!

Exactly what I needed.
This book was inexpensive and is able to help give me specific colors codes to match my desired outcome on graphic ink. It was way cheaper than other options for the basic artwork that I created. The hard back cover is awesome too.

Fun for toddlers and graphic designers
This is a simple concept executed well. Not especially fun to read all the way through since it's just color names over and over, but my toddlers like looking at it on their own, and it's great for a toddler who's beyond the five-page color board books but still learning about the nuance of color. I'm a graphic designer and I approve. The pages are durable and a nice large size. The cover looks great at first but is less durable; our copy has a tear along the binding after week of enthusiastic but not overly rough use, and all corners are dented. Finally, this is not an issue with the book and I should have learned my lesson by now, but this arrived from Amazon loose and unprotected in a box of other items, with several deep scratches and dark scuff marks on the cover. I was able to remove the marks well enough with a Magic Eraser, but I would not have been able to give this as a gift.

Beautifully made, only one quibble
I ordered this book because my 2 year old is really into colors right now, but is having trouble with shades (e.g.: he'll point to a darkish yellow chair and say orange). The book is gorgeously constructed with a hardcover style spine and thick, almost board book pages inside. It's a nice substantial size. The illustrations (yellow lion, orange goldfish, red wagon, pink piggy bank, purple balloons, blue train, green frog, brown teddy bear, white/black/grey panda, and back page with lots of colorful objects) are cute and incorporate several shades. My only quibble is that the grid of 20 shades of each color could show more variety. It's as though they wanted it not to clash. So on the orange page for instance, there are no really bright, obnoxious shades of orange. On the brown page, there are greenish and purplish browns, which is cool, but there are no light brown shades like tan. This is a minor complaint -- the book is awesome and I'll be stocking my gift closet with it to give to every 0-3 year old kid I know.**Update**It took me months to realize the color grid only contains the shades used in the facing page's illustration -- that's why the shades for each color are all in the same palette. Makes perfect sense, but it still would have been nice to have more variety. We still love the book!

I LOVE this book!
My youngest kid keeps telling me the wrong colors for things so I thought that buying this book for him would help him to understand that different shades of a color are still that color. However, I have been using this more for myself than for him! He is a LITTLE interested in it but he isn't quite grasping the concept of some of the shades. I was a little worried that it was a wasted purchase, but I work with fabrics and different colors for design work and this has come in quite handy! I love being able to identify a color by the actual shade when needed... and since I've been using it my youngest kid has been showing more interest in color. So, for me this was an excellent purchase... and MUCH cheaper than buying sample Pantone items to use for identifying colors for now. VERY good starter book to shades and basic colors for all ages!

Love This Book!
I purchased this book to teach my 1 going on 2 year old her colors. I'd seen that it was one of the best books for toddlers when searching the web and absolutely have to agree. This covers such a beautiful range of colors, and it does it in such a simple and easy way. I wish I'd known about this book months ago. I'm even thinking of gifting it to the other kids her age. I absolutely love how the last page has all of the colors on it so that she can review. She likes to point at each color and say what color it is. Great book!
