Robust metal body pen with a nice quality nib - slim and affordable
I’m happy with this all-metal body pen, which I got to use for writing and sketching with permanent ink. The fine nib is good for drawing, tends to be a little dry in my (left) hand. The color options are a nice change from boring professional black and are well done. It does not have the girth of a high end Pilot like my 912 is that matters. With either converter it has a fairly small ink capacity which seems typical across a number of instruments and brands.

Has stood up to near-constant use for a few months at least
Bought as a gift for my sister, who writes through a composition book a month. She loves it so much that she ordered some sparkley inks and a few converters and goodwilled most of her singleuse pens. So now I have to find a new person to dump all my unwanted pens on. Idk if fountain pens are actually good for the environment, but they're good for my semi-irrational fear of plastic! I'm gonna have to grab one for myself.

My favorite!
My favorite fountain pen. Forget the expensive ones. Writes a fine line yet is smooth without drag. Metal gives it a good feel and heft in your hand.

Better buy them before they’re gone!!
I love Pilot’s Metropolitan pens, doesn’t matter if the nibs are fine, medium, or stub/calligraphy, I just get a jolt of joy every time I pick one up and start to write! And I also love the substantial feel combined with the lovely metal finish under my fingers and thumb, and I can write with one for as long as I want to write. I’ve had this lovely purple pen for awhile now, which has given me some time to ‘get to know’ it well enough to write an informed review, and I couldn’t be happier! The order-delivery process was great, too, with zero problems!

Great pen, but tip breaks too easily.
Awesome fountain pen. I love it as an entry-level pen. Writes so smoothly, comes with a great carrying case, and has ink that is easily replaceable. I also love the teal color. All in all, a fountain pen is a great investment. Only con with this one is that the pen is fragile and finding replacement tips seems next to impossible...

Newly addicted to fountain pens
I’ve been obsessed with pens for as long as I can remember. I’m very particular about what I will use as my daily, and more times than not, have one of my selected few with me at all times in case I need to sign something. The thought of a ball point at a restaurant or doctor’s office…germs aside…is so ewwww.Bring in the fountain pen. I’ve been watching videos on Japanese stationary for years and have seen fountain pens, but was very unsure. I’ve tried in the past, but I blindly bought one and wasn’t selecting it based on my personal preferences. I revisited them a few months ago with a $4 pen recommendation from a site I frequent. It was perfect. I then upped my game slowly…$6, $10…now I was looking at ink and bought a beautiful blue…$9….but didn’t have a pen with a converter. This was my “excuse” for a new pen. This didn’t come with a converter, but I bought a double pack very inexpensively and the pen and converter came the same day. I filled the pen with ease, and once the ink hit the nib, the writing experience was wonderful. Very smooth, no skipping, no over flow of ink making blobs. The pen is also a very comfortable weight. I do not like heavy pens, and although the component is metal, it is the perfect weight. 100% recommend for others looking to grow their fountain pen game without spending a ridiculous amount of money.

Very smooth fine lines
Initially I was unimpressed. There was the added effort of getting ink and refilling the pen that just seemed to be extra hassle for not that much added benefit. However, it is a great pen. The more I wite with it the more I like it and the need to refill it is actually quite reassuring. I know that the ink I am using is fresh and will flow well. Plus there isn't an abundance of excess to dry out in the pen. It was a good buy and I will buy more.

I take notes all day in a journal and this pen is a joy to write with
This was my first fountain pen purchase with the intent to get something decent for an everyday writer for business notes. After many reviews and many looks at different options I decided on the Pilot Metro Retro along with Pilot black/blue ink.I have been using the pen now for about 1 month. I take notes all day in a journal and this pen is a joy to write with. I also sign many letters throughout the day and this is the pen of choice. I went with the fine nib because I like to write small and I was concerned of the potential bleeding. There is no bleed on the journal paper, cannot say the same for standard copy paper, but the bleed is minimal and doesn't stop me from using this pen all day every day on just about any paper that I would use a ballpoint pen or rollerball.1) It will drip ink if you shake it or hit it too hard on paper. Using this pen makes you a more patient writer and forces you to write with the skills you were likely taught when you first started writing, including holding the pen correctly. If this is the first time you are writing with a fountain pen, chances are you will get ink on your fingers holding the pen. Be patient, the more you use it the less it will happen.2) store the pen up-write and try not to shake it while you are not using it. As an example, when you take it to a meeting, put it in your shirt pocket, not your pants, in your hand or in you bag while you travel/walk to the meeting. Moving too much will make ink come from the tip. The good news is that if it does happen, the pen doesn't leak through the cap, at least it hasn't for me3) use good ink. It comes with one black ink and a squeeze converter if you want to go that route. I like the cartridges myself and they are reasonably priced and easy to find on amazon.4) don't let anyone borrow it, you will likely not get it back because they will likely want to keep it. After trying it, one of my co-workers bought same model, different color and nib within a couple of days of trying it. It took a couple of days because they too researched and after reading all of the reviews and trying mine, there was no question that this pen was a great purchase.5) the body of this pen is made of metal, not plastic. It is solid, sturdy and has nice balance.6) I like everything about this pen. No negatives
