BEST GHOSTBUSTERS EVER - eternal thanks to Paul Feig and everyone who made this possible!
The neckbeards HATED this movie and I can understand why. Every woman I know loves it. I see people critiquing the jokes, that they "don't land" - I guffawed the whole way through this movie, but then I realized that men probably don't get why "do you know what your iron levels are?" is funny.I loved the first two Ghostbusters movies, but on a re-watch I realized just how terrible a womanizer Venkman was. When I was 10 he was the cool charismatic cynical dude with the quick wit, but as an adult woman watching his actions he's just TERRIBLE. And he gets the girl! And Sigourney Weaver is a badass and she totally deserves better than him! This movie was not written to be a blockbuster. This movie was written to be an apology for all the misogynistic crap that was part of the culture of the first two. Right down to Bill Murray's character's ultimate comeuppance. I laughed and laughed and laughed, and then I laughed some more. Thank you, Paul Feig. You rock.(While I'm at it, the latest Ghostbusters wasn't written to be a blockbuster either - it was a straight up love letter to and tender remembrance of Harold Ramis. If you go into it with that angle, the sweetness of it is amazing.)I love this franchise, and I love this movie. It's going to be inspiring our girls to become engineers for generations to come. I love that I can read through these reviews and see so many "my daughters/granddaughters love this movie." THAT is why this movie was made. Bravo. Go forth, my ladies, watch and laugh. This movie is awesome.

Way better than I expected
I'm a huge fan of the original (1984) Ghostbusters film. I did not give this film a chance at first and began to trash it without seeing it. Having said that, I finally sat and watched it and was pleasantly surprised. This film is by no means trying to do the exact same thing as the original but it of sort of works. My only issues was there seemed to be a struggle between making family friendly scenes and making it appealing for adults. If they simply stuck to appealing to adults I think it would have been even better. For instance, the look of the ghost were very Scooby doo looking and there was no talk of charging people for their services for busting ghost. Why would they run to help people when in the real world you need money to survive. That is a very kiddy approach. They did make up for it by getting city funding though and many of the ghost had an acceptable look. So anyway this is a good entertaining film. Lastly, they honestly picked some of the best and genuinely funny women they could find. I really enjoyed the cast. Those women are TRULY funny. Not too much and not too little. Their styles are very developed and close to what made me like watching the original cast.Lastly my advice to Sony, keep doing what your doing with the cast because they are funny but leave out scenes that have profanity as the main part of jokes if you wish for parents to let their kids see it (I can only think of one scene like that). If it was not there I would like my 10 year old watch it. Also some people thought some scenes were too scary but don't listen to that. Pre-teen kids and up could still enjoy this film. Just lose scenes like the one with that College Dean flippin' them off and your good.

Freakin Awesome!
Ah, yes, my title sounds like the 80's for sure. ; ) I thought this was really great! I don't understand the haters either. Sure yes, it's corny, but...so were the originals. Corny/Funny....Goofy.. just plain silly fun. Not a serious movie in any way. Sure, the special effects were about the same as the originals. So? I laughed my head off and smiled from ear to ear from beginning to the end. (and all the cool extras in the credits) That was pure fun. I felt like I did when I was a kid watching the original ones. Was cool having them be women this time though. Watching them kick butt. was pretty cool as well. As for the people saying it's sexist toward men? If there is any real "offending" things, it's very mild, to say the most. ;). There is a male Professional Assistant who is good looking and plays a flaky personality. (Chris Hemsworth he wears normal stylish clothes and is always fully dressed). They do talk about his butt for a minute, maybe. Melissa McCarthy's character gets uncomfortable and mentions sexual harassment quickly. (Showing it's not okay) One girl has a crush on him and doesn't want to let go of his hand. She also tries to dance with him (not even in a remotely bad way). They do say they want to rescue him for it's hard to find another pretty assistant. Also, they do shoot a male cartoon-like ghost in the privates. Bill Murray and Dan Akroid are not only in the movie for cameos, but also were some of the people behind this movie. Hardly think they would agree to be part of a movie that's sexist towards men. (I've seen far worse sexist and graphically violent things toward women in movies than this extremely tame stuff.) Also cool to have all those cameos from the original cast as well. My regret was actually believing all the goofy reviews and thinking it would be stupid to see it in a theater. Would have been so cool to see this on the big screen. Ah well.
