Q: When filled with water, how long does it mist? Does it run out quickly or last a few hours?

I wouldn’t recommend running it for hours. It does not run out quickly but when the water runs out it comes with something to fill it back up.

Q: Did not come with instructions. Figured all out except how to remove ‘water cap’. Do you twist or pull off?

1 load batteries 2 remove the plug 3 pour water into the tank with a bottle 4 press the stone-shaped switch Instructions are printed on the box

Q: Does this come with a play mat?

No. There is one that comes with a play mat and dinosaurs. I specifically bought this one since I only wanted to volcano. My son has too many dinosaurs already.

Q: I want to use this a cake topper will it be too big?

That would be fun ! It would have to be a nice size round cake ! The volcano is at my grandson’s so I can’t measure
