No more dipsticks!
As a personal cannabis grower using an indoor tent and AutoPot hydroponic style system keeping pH levels in appropriate range does not need to be a guessing game at reading the dip sticks. This has made my life so much easier and my plants are showing it. I do a daily check on my reservoir water. Keep a gallon or two of distilled water on hand to rinse off the meter and do calibration. Distilled water is all of 99 cents so not a big deal.At first I worried that calibration would be hard but it is not. I have a sensitive digital thermometer and it was no problem making sure the distilled water was at the appropriate temperature. That would be the one thing to pay attention to. I am not sure what would happen if you calibrate outside the temp range instructed but really, if you are into growing and putting a ton of effort and money into making sure everything is perfect and in range, this is no problem. Being somewhat of a chemistry techno-geek though this kind of stuff is right up my alley.Although it does not text chlorine (those meters that are dual chlorine and pH are astronomically expensive) it is worth it to do a spot check on the hot tub, too.The price point on this meter is appropriate. No complaints. Happy plants happy family.

They don't call this doctor meter for nothing....
Let me just say this, if you ever traveled long distances to visit the PH Doctor, you don't need to do that anymore. They call this Dr. Meter, and it's for a reason. This meter basically went to PH school for 7 years, learning the science, algorithms, and theorems revolving around...you guessed it, PH. Then, the international college of PH doctors tested this device, inevitably issuing it a certificate to enable PH tests anywhere in your home. This Doctor Meter interned in some of the best PH Hospitals in the world and has some of the best bedside manners and now, for the first time is able to perform a PH test in your home or office. Just one note, this Doctor Meter cannot prescribe any medications...I was disappointed by that but thought I'd mention it just in case you needed to use this doctor for something specific. Overall a great doctor here, and will continue to use it. A must purchase.

Completely bunk
Update: Seller (Thousandshores Inc) was very responsive and sent a replacement right away. The replacement calibrated and gave successful readings. Readings take about a minute to settle, but they seem to be accurate and reproducible (precise). So, I'm updating my rating from one start to four. We'll use it some, and decide if the rating should go up more. Thanks Thousandshores.-----We followed all of the instructions, prepared the buffers, carefully cleaned before and between each calibration step, with distilled water. Had a chemist re-perform the calibration process. All for naught. Every time you take a reading it's completely different. After calibration, take a reading on a solution and it says 6.7. Clean and re-perform: 8.3. Clean and re-perform again: 7.5. Clean and re-perform another time: 5.6. Absolutely useless. It would get 0 stars if I could give zero. I was sure I was doing something wrong, so tried several times, got the chemist involved, etc. And now the return window is past, so I'm stuck with it. My fault for not being more attentive to that detail.UPDATE: The seller (Thousandshores Inc) has handled this phenomenally, going out of their way to get another meter to me. It arrived in record time. Assuming this unit works, all is well and I'll update the rating....

Should be ready to go on arrival/ update. AWESOME customer service
I cant give a proper review because the meter was not calibrated when it showed up. I have several buffer products but non that work with this. It requires deionized water and since RO water wont work with the buffer powder they sent, I'll have to wait till I can find some deionized water before I can even use the damn thing. I will also have to buy the same type of buffer powder to recalibrated it after some time of use because I am forced to use the pack they sent with it just to calibrate.Update; After writing this review I was contacted by the seller, they help me trouble shoot the meter and after failing to calibrate, they offered to send another one out with expedient shipping. I was not expecting them to step in and take care of my issues before I even got a chance to ask. Thank u for your EXCELLENT customer service.

You Pay 4-5x as Much for the Same Quality
When it worked, it worked great. It’s a shame it’s impossible to calibrate.I bought this after I had two of the cheap $10 meters quit on me. I spent the extra money on this only to find it only worked for about as long as those $10 units. It’s funny how this and the others somehow always seem to quit working JUST outside the return window. This one sure seemed more durable to me, worked better, and I’m really bummed it turned out to be crap. What happened:It started randomly giving weird ph levels one day. I kept adjusting my water lower and lower yet this thing kept saying it was higher and higher, at like 9-10ph. Finally I used some dye to find the water was at like 3-4ph. At first I thought no problem, they sent me calibration packets. Got my distilled water and 3 beakers, followed instructions only for the unit to say error on the first calibration solution. Instructions say that means the solution is outside of proper range, but they don’t really tell you how to fix it because I guess you can’t. Like a rationale person I started over, used the second pack, Different jug of new distilled water, again same issue. So I went to my local grow shop, bought another cheap unit, came back and tested the test solution, sure enough it was spot on with what the pack said.So I’m not sure what exactly happened to the unit, bulb is still intact, but it’s now essentially an expensive piece of junk in my drawer. Do yourself a favor and just keep buying the cheapo ones.
