Very nice starter kit all the tools are very sharp and work flawlessly! Very nice quality I would recommend them to anybody interested in getting started with bonsai as a Hobby! No need to buy expensive tools when you can get these for a great price! These are made in China so what better place to get them than the place where these little trees were originally started and cultivated!

I bought this kit for the knob/concave cutter, root rakes and brushes. I already have a pair of scissors I bought while in Japan, which are of much higher quality than the scissors in this kit. The scissors are difficult to open and close smoothly, but with time they may loosen up. The knob cutter and concave cutter work great, very sharp, clean cuts. Wire cutter is alright, it pinches the wire and you have to break it off, rather than most wire cutters which actually cut clean through the wire.I would recommend this kit for any advanced beginners looking to get into bonsai long term. I will slowly replace these tools with nicer ones as I need them, but for now these are great!

After looking over tools for working with Bonsai, keeping in mind that I am a beginner, most are priced very high. This set has the essential tools you will realistically need as a beginner. If you expect to get excellence out of a set of 6 tools for sometimes half the price of 1 quality tool, don't buy them. They work great for me and my skill level though.My philosophy is having a set like this first, teaches you what you'll want and need when you graduate to more expensive tools.They are sharp, heavy, and even though they had some lubricant, it's apparent that if you are not as attentive to these tools as your Bonsai, they'll rust....Fast.Right out of the box I oiled them with a 3 in 1 lube and cleaned them with a rag. Yes they were dirty. Next, I took cardboard from a cereal box, duct tape, and made little covers to go over the heads.It is too soon to comment on durability or how long they stay sharp.If you are brand new to Bonsai, get these and use the money you save to get quality soil and a membership to a Bonsai group.

Tools were listed as high quality but the ones I received were stiff and on the concave cuter have a big nick in the blade the long handled scissors have big flakes of sharp metal peeling inside edge of handles. I work in machine shop so I smother them out. The cutting edges are sharp but just got so don't know if they will hold edge. For the money they aren't that bad if you are just starting out will let you see what tools you use the most and you can then just replace these with better more expensive ones. The other tools listed were very expensive and with just starting out could not see spending that. They do come with 3 year warranty most come with one. Did not use warranty so don't now how it will go.

These high quality tools are very necessary for any Bonsai gardener. I can now pursue tasks that I shunned before since I was hesitant to use my common tools for specific tasks associated with Bonsai maintenance. These tools give me that extra degree of assurance and confidence to tackle any future activity with my plants. I even contacted the company directly for help in receiving a rake that was missing from the shipment. They were most responsive to my request for assistance and I now have my complete set of tools. You can not go wrong in buying from and dealing with this company, BambooMN.

Overall the quality of these tools just isn't good enough to be used for bonsai. The first thing I noticed when opening the package was that the tools were incredibly dirty. They were covered in a fine black greasy dust that coated my hands when I picked them up. I had to wipe them all down with several paper towels before handling them. Next I tried working each of them. Some of them felt very tight to use, and some of the blades felt like they were sticking instead of sliding smoothly across each other. A little oil may have helped, but I was not encouraged at this point. Finally I attempted to use a couple of them to trim my bonsai and they didn't cut cleanly. Instead of getting a nice, easy, clean cut they tended to mash and tear. I tried taking one of my larger branches off using the concave cutter and it didn't cut all the way through the branch, even though it was a relatively small branch. I ended up tearing the bark a little bit trying to cut the rest of the way through the branch. I can not recommend this product for use on bonsai. It is worth spending a little more money to buy a better quality product. These tools will probably end up doing damage to your tree if you're not careful.

I purchased them as a gift for my son. I was impressed with the quality of the tools given the low price. He had no trouble using them and was very excited to receive them.
