Concise and to the point
I was looking for a United States history book that got right to the point, but adequately covered the important subject matter in an easy to read and easy to understand manner. I found all I was looking for in this book.

Good Book
Not a great in depth history book, but it does give you a lot of information to get you interested enough to find out more and research. Just enough to get you started on knowing your history.

Starter!
Another quick summary to get started on the topic! Captivating History is amazing! You get everything you need to know here plus it's not boring at all like a lot of the more fact focused books I run across... Heck do one on MS-13 and include interviews! I know you guys would do great! Jackson is now my most hated president... Trail of Tears a big bomb for you Jackson 💣

Without distance
This was an easy-to-read book about American History. It gives you an overview of the key points and starts with the Native Americans. I have little to complain about until we arrive at the 20th Century. Then two things happen. One, the history told becomes jumpy. There are huge gaps in time. Time where things did happen that affected the part told. Two, the key points told are described very one-sided. It is all about America being perfect and acting correct. There is no distance and reflections on American actions. It is a book written for Americans who just want to know what a spendid country they live in. One thing that is so important when reading history is that you can learn from it. You can't if you don't give a reader a chance to learn something other than a single story. I already knew that Americans in general seems to think it is okay to kill hundred of thosands of civilians just because they can, but would it not be in place when you write a history book to add the perspective from other parts of the world on American actions? That it was just a matter of time before a thing like 9/11 happened is not even mentionend. Do you read history to remain naïve or do you read to learn from it? As I said, up until the 20th century it is nothing wrong with the book and it is well written.

Well written
This history is concisely written an hits most of the high and low points of U.S. history. I like that it did not sugar coat the lows on history.

Just what I wanted.
I needed something to refresh my memory about the chronological order of all these battles and how America was built and this book did it for me. There’s many books that go into more depth but this serves the purpose.
