Got the job done
I had never used an EPROM programmer before but needed to rewrite one and figured I should get one that is adaptable for any future uses. I saw this specific one recommended by people online. There were similar, cheaper ones available from overseas sellers but I went with this one. This has several adapters for different chips and socket types, as well as an eraser. The process of hooking everything up and using the software was a bit confusing at first, but nothing 10 minutes of reading instructions couldn't cure. Everything worked right the first time and I've used it a few times since then. Not something I use daily, but I'm glad to have it around if I need it again!

Small and simple, good customer support
I'm an old timer who hadn't burned a PROM in 10+ years, yet I found this device very easy to use for both reading PROMS and burning them. At first I had a problem loading the driver in Win 10 64 bit, but was pleased with the rapid response from customer service at MCUmall. They provided an updated driver very quickly, and I was looking at some old PROMs 5 minutes later. Burned a few new ones as a test. It's controlled by very easy to use Windows software that included setups for all the chips I need (mostly old-school stuff). I am confident that the gadget can handle the newer stuff just as well.

Worked as intended
Bought this to read the eeprom off of some chips for some older equipment so they can be flashed onto new chips. Works great.

Great!
Solid and straightforward, with good software. And none of the sketchiness of the Chinese ones.

Product drops USB connection when Eproms being plugged in
I left question on this Amazon system but it does not allow for replies to be made when someone answers your question so trying to give more detail about product hereOn a random basis when at the moment of inserting eproms into the ZIP socket the USB connection to the desktop is dropped and GQ unit beeps. This as as the moment not all of the legs of eprom are inserted into the ZIP socket and before the latch is closedWhen this happens as USB port is now down I have to unload the GQ 4x$ software and load it againI can test using the same eprom on sometimes the problem does not happen, sometime doesHave tried 4 different USB cables that are less then 3 feet long so it should not be a voltage drop issueAgain this happens when in the process of setting the eprom into the ZIP socket so not all pins are even in the socketP/C has a 3rd party 4 port (supports V3 USB and older) which plugs into the P/C PCI-e slot and this plugs into the P/Cs power supply and this USB board handles up to 2.4 AMPs current draw so it cannot be a voltage issueSending emails to GQ 4X4 support and I get NO replies back. This can happen on a random basis if the e-prom is used and erased to inserting new eproms of typesI use which are 28 pin, in NM27C32, 128, 256 and 512 K (eproms GM uses in engine controllers )Vendor of GQ 4x4 needs to contact me and solve this major problem as fear this is going to break the USB board in the P/CThis GQ 4x4 unit is able 1 year old and I rarely have usedThere should be no reason this happens when just inserting eprom and ZIP latch is not even been closed and clearly then not reading or writing to the eprom so should not be some voltage issue in the unit to cause it to drop the UCB connection to the P/C
