Harry's quite the songwriter. I am not sure to what degree he relies on Kid Harpoon or Tyler Johnson, but even so, Harry's second album is a consistent foray into pop and funk, a worthy successor to its chart-topping predecessor.Other reviews remark how much of a departure this album represents for Harry. I see no such departure. Instead, I see a continuous line (a fine line perhaps :) ) from his previous work, the heavy classic rock feeling of his first album, to this one, where he maintains that feel, but is branching off, in this way and that. Harry has remarked that this is an album about sex and feeling sad. That sounds very accurate. "Watermelon Sugar" is plainly erotic and "Lights Up" champions the theme of self-discovery (and perhaps sexual experimentation?) . "To Be So Lonely" is a sad ballad that stands up with the balladry of "Ever Since New York" from his first album.I think Harry sort of loses himself in the abyss at the end. The stark, and rather long, "Fine Line" at the end is not nearly the dramatic closer one might hope for, but rather a muddled whimper. "Treat People With Kindness" is just fluff.There are many good sings here. Nothing as spectacular as "Sign of the Times", but certainly good enough to get thousands off their feet, swaying, hopping and singing along as Harry embarks on his worldwide concert tour. He has a gift for the musical hook. Like Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson before him, he has all the makings of an enormous talent who fled from their respective boy bands to change the face of music, but not defining the future, as much as reinventing and honoring the past.
