Offers enough content for a casual visitor to the site
Bought the book to get some idea of Chichen Itza while getting there. The volume of the book allows to go through it on the way from Cancun or Playa del Carmen to this site (about 2 hours). Definitely adds value to your visit to the site. In addition to that I bought an audio guide (easy to find online) for my mp3 player, which also helped a lot on the site. These both cost a fraction of the price of a local guide and allowed my family wonder around a rather large site for several hours without the need to rush after a guide, who only wants to spend so much time on his client.

The Other Ancient Pyramids
Fifty years ago, I had the opportunity to work in Mexico in the early days of High Tech. After a long day of computer talk, one of my student executives ask if I had ever visited any of Mexico's antiquities.I admitted that I had not, but would love to visit Chichen Itza some day. I had heard many stories about the site and had always wanted to see it.This book brought back visions of my experience climbing this great pyramid. It will beckon you to step back in time and share the history and mystery of a people long forgotten.

Leaves you wanting more.
I enjoyed this book, and it's great as a synopsis, but there is so much more that could have been covered. What was inside El Castillo? How was it discovered? I guess I'm just looking for more details. I'll look elsewhere.

Great Information
I'm planning a trip to Cozumel, the Mayan Riviera and my last stop is Chichen Itza. I felt compelled to read up on this ancient Mayan city to get a good understanding and sense of what I'll be embarking on witnessing and touring. The book presents a great deal of information giving you a taste of the history, culture, and foundation of this ancient Mayan city. The photos without a doubt compliment the information presented making me all the more intrigued to discover and tour this Seven Wonder of the World.

informative
decades ago National Geographic featured the treasures and curiosities of the sacred cenote of this city. this book complements that introduction with excellent history of the area, and photos of the buildings. several typos are present, written like a research paper. may be a challenge for grammar school students.

Is this a high school freshman history project?
An amateurish effort (don't think it can even be called a "book"). It reads more like a student term paper than a book on a site of major historical significance. There is quality lacking in both the writing and the photographs - which are badly composed, under exposed, or out of focus. One would do better to save the $10 and simply read the Wikipedia article. I do not recommend this item if you are looking for a quality text on Chichén Itza.

Very short book
The book was very short (53 pages) with a lot of black & white pictures. Really not worth the price.

good primary resource for El Castillo school project
My son was assigned El Castillo as part of a landmark project at school and needed a primary resource. Our library didn't have anything that was focused on it. We ordered this rather than requesting books on general Mayan ruins be sent to our library and hoping there would be enough information. This was to the point with facts and enough pictures to use when making a model. I donated the book to the school after we were finished with it.
