Good knife for older (responsible) kids
I bought this knife for my 11-year-old son, who runs around in the woods like Rambo and carries it with him during Airsoft battles. Yesterday, he even attached it to the end of one of his cap gun rifles with duct tape as a bayonet. It's not a toy (which I'm saying mainly so the over-reacting types don't act like I'm letting my son run around in the backyard with a steak knife), but it's fine for kids 10+ to play with responsibly. It's not sharp, even at the point. It is heavy, so throwing it at somebody's head could hurt. If you have a kid that tends to be rough with other kids, it might not be a good item to put in their hands. However, if your kid is responsible enough to follow some basic safety rules, it's a great addition to any backyard battle gear. It's much less dangerous than running around with a pretend knife made out of a stick, which is what made me think of ordering the knife in the first place. The knife is very durable, realistic looking, and as I mentioned is as heavy as a real knife of this type. It's weatherproof (no metal) and doesn't seem to get nicks or tears even after a few months of heavy use. I haven't tried other knives of this type, but I'm very impressed with the construction and durability of this particular training knife.

Great Training tool and fun, too!
I'll repeat here what I said about the Cold Steel Tanto training knife:Decided to pick this up to assist in training. For how much this cost, it is an excellent product: it is heavy duty, yet flexible enough not to really harm someone (unless you stupidly gouge them in the eyes!); has excellent detail in the checkering on the grip; it is life size so it's realistic; anyone wanting a training knife or a knife for a Halloween costume prop should pick one of these up.One detail I like about this knife is the guard is prominent, like on a full size knife of this design. Again, I think this aids in training. Highly recommended.

Great!
I am a big airsofter, and our team is playing in a CQB area that allows "melee combat". In a panic, I ordered this knife without really expecting much more then a glorified rubber stick. When I opened the package I was shocked, as it took me about ten seconds of glaring at it before I figured out it wasn't real. It is very difficult to "mess up" a rubber knife... so having said that this knife is about as good as you are going to find. I beleive it is all one piece (so it won't break in half easily) and it feels and is even balanced slightly like a real one. I will say that the blade itself is much harder then I immagined, and can picture it causing injury to someone if I really jabbed them with it. Nevertheless, it is a great training knife.Pros:Looks/Feels exaclty like a real knifeYou can't accidentally kill your friends with itVERY sturdy and durable (better then most real knives I have)Cons:I personally find the blade very hard, it would hurt to get jabbed with this.

Solid training knife.
I got one of these to change up the partner training for our adults bjj class. It's not flimsy but feels that it can break or bend weird f you abuse it. It's great for hand fighting, defensive drills, grappling against the wall etc. Would recommend for any martial arts training

Great bang for buck training knife
This could be one of the best value training knives on the market!Design: This trainer is made to simulate the Cold Steel R1 Military Classic knife, as mentioned in the product description. It's a WWII-era design, and is based on the Randall Model 1. The R1 Classic (real knife) is 11 5/8" long with a 7" blade. The trainer is 11 1/2" long with a 6 3/4" blade. Nearly identical, the real knife is only slightly longer, similar to a traditional Bowie or USMC Ka-Bar. From an offensive training perspective, I prefer my trainer to be slightly shorter than what I carry.Handle: The checkering on the handle is great, adds realism and definitely improves grip when hands are sweaty. The large hilt is accurate and stiff, adds so much to disarm drills and the overall appearance of being a real weapon.Blade: The blade portion is stiff! Always wear proper personal protective equipment when using this, or any, training tool. You only get one set of eyes. There is some side-to-side flex but much less than with a lot of other rubber trainers. The blade portion is thick, and quite durable. Well rounded point. The heft isn't like that of a real blade, there is no metal shank or ability to add weight if desired. While that is a drawback, it also improves safety. If you train with a group, or run a gym/dojo, having a handful of these available just seems like a great bargain. Full-size, durable, realistic, for $9 each. Really can't beat that in my book.

Technique Trainers
These practice knives are good for doing reciprocating drills and technique work as found in the Filipino Fighting Arts and for self-protection styled training without the risk of a cut. The only downside is that they can break if used on a target so I suggest getting some durable wooden dummy blades and/or some metal trainers too. Make sure to always use eye protection because although they have rounded edges there is still a point.

The knives (ordered 2) exceeded my expectations. Great quality. Can't wait to use them in my martial arts class!! I'm very happy with them.

Training Knife: Always Wear Eye Protection!
This knife is one of those products that makes me feel cool while holding it. Originally purchased for cosplay, I use this knife as part of my martial arts training and airsoft games as well. It is made from a hard rubber (polymer, I'm assuming) that leaves quite a sting when you use any amount of force. For aesthetics or training, it works great - but don't plan on handing this kind of knife to a small child. That being said, I do not feel the least bit threatened when on the receiving end of the knife. Please use discretion if you plan on swinging this at fellow airsoft players.
