My last set like these lasted 10 years!
Just received a pr of these Makita aftermarket batteries. They appear to be exactly the same, down to the number and writing on the bottom, as the last pr I bought. And the last pr I bought lasted over 10yrs! (they're still not completely dead!). I was VERY satisfied with the value and life of that last set of 14.4V batteries. Hopefully these will have the same or similar lifespan. As far as power on my old ones vs Makita batteries, I didn't notice any drop personally. If anything they were better than the 'kit' batteries I had been using. My use on the old Makita tools is often intermittent depending on what projects I get into and mostly on drills. I have a mish-mash of tools from Milwaukee M18, Hitachi/Metabo, Bauer, Ryobi and even some Kobalt. My newer power-hungry tools are M18 brushless ..saws/grinders, etc and some Ryobi brushless stuff. I'm totally satisfied with M18 brushless tools!! Ryobi has a place too. I like their brushless chainsaws (18V & 40V). But those old Makita drills in the NiMh days, were made great and they still do a great job alongside newer drills. And I've seen much newer DeWalt drills where the chuck was wobbly as heck after a couple years ...while my 3x 20+ y/o Makita drill chucks with a LOT of use are tight as new! So why get rid of them? I personally like the larger form-factor of older Makita drills too. I always kept my previous aftermarket batteries partially charged which may have helped their lifespans. And those previous set of aftermarket batteries that are dying now, far outlasted the much more expensive genuine Makita batteries I had forked out good money for. That's why I stopped buying them back in the day and went with these aftermarket ones. They were expensive and didn't last very long. I seem to remember when I bought the previous black/gray aftermarket batteries like these ....the ad claimed they used "Quality Japanese cells". Which is what sold me on them. I don't know what cells these use, but each pack DOES weight 27g less than the old aftermarket ones. That's a small difference fortunately. Hopefully it represents an improvement in quality or manufacturing.FWIW, I recently bought a set of cheaper aftermarket batteries from another auction site (not Amazon) which I "Thought" were similar to these. I was wrong! There was a little 'switcherooo' that went on, I received cheaper 'red' aftermarket 14.4V battery packs. Those red batteries weighed 40% less than these batteries. I sent them back. Sticking to these. The one nice thing about the red batteries is the case was screwed together so theoretically a guy could have them rebuilt with the best cells on the market. But I'm not a fan for the red batteries. I wish these were screwed together. So, in summary, time will tell on these. But if these new 14.4V batteries last close to what my last ones did I will be tickled!

Perfect and works great!
Fit my Makita drill perfectly! Not too heavy, charges quickly, and this 2 pack is perfect for switching out if or when the 1st battery dies (which rarely happens, but hey, it's a good plan). Happy with this purchase.

Good replacement battery
Worked great with my Makita drill. Charged quickly and did what I needed it to do. Not sure how long the charge lasts but so far very happy with these batteries.

... batteries even though my original Makita batteries were much better. In fact
ExpertPower is a prudent choice to replace Makita batteries even though my original Makita batteries were much better. In fact, the 10+ year old Makita batteries I replaced performed phenomenally well. The ExpertPower batteries fit like a glove into my Makita impact driver, separate drill and charger. They insert smoothly. Withdraw smoothly. And, they stay in place. The power is good, but not great. Each of the 2 ExpertPower batteries I bought drives a satisfactory number of fasteners and drills an acceptable number of holes. However, the original Makita batteries drove more fasteners and drilled more holes. The performance of Makita batteries was astonishing.Similarly, the shelf life of the ExpertPower batteries is good, although shorter than the Makita's extraordinary shelf life. Shelf life, as used here, means how long the batteries hold a charge. My batteries can be repeatedly used and stored for days between charges, even during Maine winter temperatures.I firmly believe the ExpertPower battery was, and is, a wise choice. The $55-60 price for a pair of batteries makes re-powering my 10+ year old Makita tools worthwhile. The $125 cost for a pair of Makita batteries, in contrast, makes replacing the TOOLS wiser than replacing the batteries. The tools are showing their age, and heavy use to date, even though they still run satisfactorily. Let me sum up with one more point. I am satisfied with the ExpertPower batteries even though I prefer Makita batteries. The ExpertPower batteries are better value.UPDATE: As of autumn 2021, batteries only partially charged, and they only briefly held a charge. So, reasonably good value. And, prudent choice for an aging, heavily used cordless drill & impact driver.

These third-party replacements fit my Makita drills and work!
I've only used them a few minutes each so far, but they fit, lock (and release) perfectly and the drill and driver both operate as-new. I'll amend this review if further use warrants.Pat

Great option for continuing use of older models
These are not as good as the original 2.6 Ah batteries. That said, they work very well and are half the price, and allowed me to continue to use these Makita tools. A brand that is no longer the "only" top quality cordless, but continues to be my first choice. I love them and see no reason to upgrade to the newer generations. Of course the new generations of battery tools are better, but they are just not needed. If you are starting out new just go directly to the 18-19 volt models. Of course if you want to get into this recent culture of going all cordless for everything you should probably just bite the bullet and upgrade to 18 volts or higher. I work in my shop quite a bit and frankly anything battery powered will always be second fiddle for many continuous function corded tools. So purchasing of these batteries is a great option for screws, pilot holes, lights, and many other duties I use them for. Instead of seemingly continuous upgrades my resources can be put to new tools that can do jobs my old ones cannot.
