Great Quality with Quirks.
I have purchased several different keypad door locks for our homes (Kwikset, MiLocks, Hyper Tough). They are all slightly different in their little quirks (sounds, whether or not you press lock/unlock after entering the code, etc.)Seeing this one is classified as “commercial” caught my eye.We go in and out of one door quite and bit so it makes sense to get a good model for that entryway. Since I use it a lot might as well make the investment in something of high quality. Sixty extra bucks for something I use several times a day is worth it. If it’s the first thing we interact with when entering our nice house, why go with some flimsy equipment?Some of our other doors get less use so I was okay buying a bargain off-brand model (MiLocks). We returned the Hyper Tough lock I got at Wal-Mart and got this one.Well this did not disappoint! First off it uses a 9v battery unlike the other with their AA…less batteries to load and a longer battery life. Secondly it feels quite sturdy. Turning the interior turnpiece feels very smooth. Thirdly it has a reassuring “clunk” when it unlocks.The ONLY downside is there is no way to disable the auto lock feature. It’s either always unlocked or will automatically lock when you shut the door. This can be annoying when a guest is over and shuts the door. At first this made me want to return the thing but there’s a workaround of lengthening the delay time.Other than that, it’s simple to use. Just enter the code and it unlocks. No need to press a button every time you go outside. Just one of those small details which makes me slightly happier with our house every time we come or go home.

Good features, solid lock hardware
This is a literally heavy lock. The outer casing is solid. I believe the Grade 2 BHMA rating.Installation was simple. Programming in the lock codes is a 5 step sequence. Four of the steps are one button pushes. Not hard at all.The look of the lock is stylish. I like it.I hope the battery lasts as long as advertised! 3 years would be amazing. This model uses a 9V battery. The last Kwikset (I think 915, deadbolt model) took 4 AA that only lasted a year at most.Weak point: The battery cover is plastic. While not completely flimsy, it's disappointingly thin compared to the rest of the lock. It's oddly out of place on this product.Function I wish it had: Be able to program the lock to be in Passage Mode for a specified number of hours. Probably no more than 24 hours, but no less than 1. At the end of the specified time it will revert to Auto-lock Mode and lock. This program would be enabled by entering a user defined code on the keypad. Turnpiece would be in the Auto-lock position.Marketing suggestion: One confusing thing that Kwikset can clear up would be the difference between the 917 (residential) and 955 (commercial) models. These are very similar, if not the same, in looks, features, and pricing. I have not handled the 917, so perhaps the build quality is different, I can't say.

Good Replacement for Outside Door Handle/Lock
After one year of use this lock has held up well outside on my garage door which has moderate exposure to rain and sun. I do cover it with a thick clear plastic bag secured by a rubber band during snow and ice storms just to be safe.It's easy to program and I like the nighttime use where it lights up once you start pushing the buttons (well, at least the very top one). The only issue I've had is the same as others have mentioned regarding the mini internal screw which holds the handle. I've had to tighten it twice now but I can live with that. Just be careful when positioning and tightening it.Would recommend this product given the decent price and quality. Try to get it under $80 which happens every so often.

Good looking and convenient door handle
We have this handle on our front door to our home and really like it. It looks nice on our black door. The hole in our door was slightly too small so I ended up having to drill out more material to accomadate the door handle but it was worth it. Set up and install was easy!

Simple and Works Well
I had a bolt lock before and the bolt would catch and the batteries died fast. This handle lock type works so much better. It just works and you can use it without having to unlock to go out and know it is locked as you close it.

Instructions A+++
Love the Kwikset instructions. Very easy to follow and I am a relative novice. My highest review. Still new, so can't comment on durability at this point. One small thing that I had trouble with was the red label around the latch that made it difficult to know when the collar had snapped over the catch pins. It is subtle. If I were doing it again, I would scrape the label off first.

Locked door knob
I like the design of the handle and the options that are available.

Looks good, installation is easy
Easy to install easy to programHowever the battery that is supposed to last 2 years, just died last night after only15 days.I hope this is a battery issue and not lock set issue.
