Kept the mice on the trail out of my food

Well they are thick and the seal is air tight and they look like they will last a long time but who knows if they're better at keeping the smell of food from the bears better than a Ziploc freezer bag? I packed my food in them and put in a Bearvault canister and nothing touched it overnight when camping so guess it works. These are like vitamins....you don't really know if they're doing their job.

I've put some pretty smelly stuff in these and the odor did not permeate as far as my human nose could tell. I used these with the critter/bear bag with no problems. Nothing bothered my food. I have also kept in a dry sack in my tent with no issues even though some of the areas of the trail had lots of complaints about rodents trying to get at food.

These are great but I find them to be a bit pricey for the actual times you can reuse them. If you are very careful, they hold up but they get creases and dents in the plastic which is pretty thick and sturdy. They seal and reseal well if you're very careful opening them. Eventually, the top will tear no matter how careful you are. I have been able to use them for two, maybe three trips, depending on what's in them. Again, it's good to have the odor lock and waterproofing but they don't last all that long. The corners are stiff and can poke through things but I use a fairly thick dry bag for my food so it's not an issue

We have a dog named "Bear". He's very intelligent, and very food motivated. We adopted him after he failed out of service dog training because he couldn't be trusted around food. He's perfect in every other way, but he eats everything left unattended. He has eaten through multiple backpacks to get at a snack inside, and recently ate an unopened can of dog food off the counter, leaving only the crumpled metal remains on the living room floor. It took us a minute to even figure out what it was.Last night I put a cooked hamburger and some buns into an Opsak and left it in a plastic shopping bag on the floor about six feet from Bear's food bowl. He didn't touch it all night. We left this morning to run errands, and he did steal some bread off the counter, but he didn't touch the Opsak. That was when I decided to write a review. These things are amazing.I'm going to order some of the larger ones to pair with an Ursack for backpacking, and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to never having to hang another bear bag! Not to mention, now we will be able to leave the packs in the car with Bear if we need to run in and grab a bite to eat, pay for gas, etc... on our way to the trailhead. These solve a lot of problems for us, because they actually work.

These aren't the same Opsacks from years ago. I had some I loved and used a long time, so I decided to buy more. Well, these are not the same. The seam near the zipper came apart on both of the bags. One was apart upon opening the package, and the other one came apart immediately after trying to use it one time (thereofore, I couldn't bring it on the trip I had bought it for). I returned them. Do not buy.

They work. Odors don’t get through. The ones I bought were kinda small but they still do the job.

I bought these for backpacking. I had overflow that wouldn't fit into my bear bin and I used this bag.
