Great battery extender
I bought this to add runtime to my Tripp Lite 1500VA Smart UPS Back Up. Not a full load, so my runtime increased from around 50 minutes to 122 minutes with the extender. No recent power outages since I added these, but I'm confident I'll be able to run everything for a couple hours or more in the event I lose power. I've had one or two brief power glitches, and everything ran smoothly.

Works exactly as intended when the instructions are followed
Went from 78 minutes run time to 460 minutes on a Tripplite Active Conversion UPS @ ~13% average load.Installation was 20 minutes tops to get added to UPS and use the calibration software to update the UPS to leverage the additional batteries.Cons - Heavy due to metal construction and 8 batteries, but worth it.

Seems like a good product
I had an opportunity to open one of these because one of the desiccant packs broke and most of the pellets dropped inside through the vents. There are 4 batteries CP1270 with only wiring and a fuse; very simple. When connecting this unit to the UPS, push the connector into the UPS firmly until you hear the click. The unit can be mounted or positioned as a mini tower in any direction except for one. It cannot be positioned with the vents oriented upwards. There's a big red sticker making this point. As a mini-tower it is also impractical and illogical to place the unit with the vents facing downward. I have it positioned as a mini-tower. There are low profile glides on one end.Pros:* 4 batteries equivalent to a whole other UPS* Can be positioned as a mini-tower* Simple circuitry* 2 year limited warrantyCons:* no LED or other indication that the unit is functioning. Use the UPS test feature (mute button) to test the batteries.* Not much toy enjoyment factor as it's literally a black box ;)

Extender is fine, the main unit is trash
This does fine working as an extended battery. However, the garbage it plugs into is a failure.

DO NOT BUY - doesn't work
Followed instructions and plugged into my Tripp Lite SMART1500LCDXL 1500va (compatible main APS) and the displayed capacity hasn't changed in 24 hours. Tried manually changing main to set external battery pack and ran a battery test (which passed) but nothing changed. Was going to try and take the cover off to make sure battery was plugged in as others have stated, but it has a security bit that none of my 100 security bits would engage. Unplugged and tested with multimeter and as expected, 0vdc which means the batteries are either completely dead or not connected.I've been working with computers and electronics for 30 years, so expertise is not an issue.POS and no return policy, so I am hosed. DO NOT BUY.

Excellent
Between this and the UPS itself, I tested up to 6 hours on my modem, router, and PoE Cameras (5) on an NVR. I've never been a fan of Eaton, but I Swear by Tripp-Lite.

Auxilery Battery Bank
As a secondary battery bank for my UPS it has been working flawlessly. It was just plug and play, as they say.Only caution is that it might take two people to mount this safely in an equipment rack due to the weight.

Only 2 batteries were connected
After 4 years I opened the is to see what was inside. There is a door on the side with a 1 way secure screw. Only way to open this was to unrack, remove the rack ears and 6 screws. Upon looking inside there were 4 batteries but after taking a closer look only 2 of the batteries were connected and the top 2 batteries were disconnected…..for 4 years going unnoticed!
