Pentel Super Multi 8 Automatic Mechanical Pencil Set (PH803ST)

Be advised: The lead size is colossal—I work in books and paper, and the lead is altogether too large for marking up work quickly and effectively. A tiny sharpener is included and is hilariously perfect for its purpose; it also signals the frustrating flaw of the lead size.The idea of this tool is absolutely wonderful, and its design is likewise gilt-edge—I’d prefer aluminium or titanium over plastic (and would gladly pay a premium for it). But what they’ve done with the plastic is solid, reliable, enduring. Transitioning between leads and pens is seamless. If the leads were much smaller, I’d use it daily and gift it to colleagues.

The media could not be loaded. I’m in love with my Multi 8, so I had to give the SUPER Multi8 a try.Also, I was hoping the pink would be a little bit nicer/darker than the pink in the Multi8.Pens are just your standard Pen. They have a sharper point to them than your standard Bic which I like, but Pilot Precise V5 RT will forever be my favorite Pen. This is a ball point pen, so it just is what it is. At least it has a nice point.The gray Multi 8 has softer lead than the clear Multi8. I’ve had 3 of the clear and only one gray, and the gray one has WAY less problems!I’m assuming the Super will follow suit.Gray has softer lead which leads to nicer colors. SUPER8 has the same soft red lead.If you’re writing with the Blue, it IS hard to see… but if your goal is to write on something that won’t show up on a copy, then this is what you want.Pink feels a little waxy and while it is slightly darker, it’s still not what I was hoping for. :/Why it’s not the same quality as the red…??All in all, this would be the perfect pen for taking notes. Black for General notes, red if there’s something you need to do, blue if it’s a date or important information that needs to stand out. You can highlight with intention too all with ONE pen.I am a connoisseur of pens, especially the multi color… I won’t tell you how many I have or how many I’ve tried…If you need the blue copier pencil, that would put this pen at the top of its category.If you just need colored pens, or only colored pencils… I would skip this. It’s not the top of its class for either.I can easily recommend this pen/pencil/highlighter all in one with no hesitation. :)It’s unique in its variety of options available in one pen. Easy to use and a lot easier than carrying an array of colored pencils while schlepping thru airports but too expen$ive to refill & use every for a working artist.

Very cool! I use it at work to edit documents and it works great. I wish they offered it with a standard mechanical pencil and eraser for writing. Otherwise I’m very happy with it!

Love this pen. It comes with refills. And you can add additional refills.

Some of the colors are not bold enough. I ended up using the red nearly exclusively.
