Beats $10,000 for “real” above ground pool
This is our 3rd Intex pool. Started with the “bubble”, then had 15’ metal frame, now this 26’ ultra frame. This is a HUGE pool! The box that it came in was delivered by freight truck (400+lbs). Trucking company dropped it at the end of our driveway, thank goodness we have a tractor so we were able to move it, but something to keep in mind. We were already familiar with setup from our other pool so it was fairly straightforward. The most difficult part of assembly was getting the final piece of top rail locked in. Please do not believe the listing when it says “ready in hour”. It will take you days unless you have a crew, and even then at least a day before you even start adding water. My husband and I did it ourselves. I’m going to give you some tips to help with installation, but the number one tip is find the You Tube video from Pawpaws Place. It’s about an hour long and he takes you from beginning to end. Follow every step and you will be good!Helpful hints:1. Level, level, level. Make sure your site is almost perfectly level. Any deviation will skew how the water sits in the pool. You have about 1” that you can be off. Any more and it won’t be good.2. Get liner as wrinkle free as you can before you put on legs, this will make it easier for you later when you start adding water to get the rest of the wrinkles out.3. If you’re planning to leave up year round, put something under each leg. Pawpaw recommends 12x12x1” blocks, but to be honest, that’s way more digging than we wanted to do. I ended up going to a metal fab shop and have them make 8x8x1/4” plates (26). I think they’ll hold well.4. This does not come with a backwash hose. Purchased backwash hose and clamp from Lowe’s and we had to buy some PVC fittings to make it work.5. They don’t come with a skimmer basket anymore. Highly recommend purchasing one to get the surface crud.6. The supplied ground cloth is pretty thin. We had some geo textile cloth that we put under the ground cloth for added protection.7. Use a level and keep checking legs both side to side and front to back as the water goes in. This is where the ground leveling comes into play. If your ground is not level, liner with push out on some legs, and cause others to move inward. Fill slowly and check, check, and recheck. We are on a well so I had to go slow with water -55 minutes twice a day. I checked leg level before each addition. Got pool filled to about 4,000 gal then had another 6,200 trucked in. We went around and around with level as water was going in and made adjustments. They will reach a point where you cannot move them anymore .All in all, I think it’s worth the time and money. Pool company wanted over $10,000 for metal walled pool and installation. I just couldn’t fork over that much. With pool, water, and misc. things, I’d guess we have about $2500 in it. The seller was great, I had a couple of questions and they responded immediately. Would definitely recommend if you don’t mind some hard work. Watch the video by Pawpaws Place!

Five years and going strong
Purchased in 2020 and the pool is still being enjoyed. Have upgraded the pump, filter and ladder. Have the skimmer and with modifications it works great.

Good for a beginner pool
First off this is our first pool, and has been a bit of a learning curve. 24’x52” XTR We have had it up for a couple months and have gotten a ton of use out of it already. I kept it in my cart over the winter waiting for a sale, and at Easter they went 25% off. Definitely worth saving for a pop up sale, we saved a ton. And fast shipping from Amazon of courseShipping:Came in one giant box, delivery guy struggled to get in our garage. We had to unbox there and take all the pieces but overall packaged well 10/10Setup:We had 3 people to set this up, and it completely whooped us. The area was prepped and leveled out, and we did a layer of XPS foam on top to provide a flat surface. The liner weighs a ton, and it is difficult to slip the cross bars through due to the rubber sticking to the metal. This has to be done while someone holds the weight of the rim so the leg can be put on after. And the feet are Terrible! They have nothing to hold them to the post so they will just fall off when trying to adjust. Super annoying. Overall It’s a simple process but extra hands would help a ton here, if we did again we’d have bribed a couple more people to help. Pump is relatively easy to hook up, but depending on your setup the hoses lay on the ground. We resolved by putting a couple zip ties at the T and held them up.*It should be known that we have had to adjust the feet once and will have to adjust more in depth this fall. The weight of this pool once full is crazy. A pretty large portion of our pool on one end started sinking and got to the point of being 3” lower. During the initial prep work we rode over the whole area with a commercial skid steer before tamping with a hand tamp. Even with all that it had nothing on the weight of this pool, seriously. The only way we could fix without draining all water was to drain half, use a bottle jack to lift up posts and add additional pavers. Now after a couple months it has started sinking even more, but finally settled. It is just unbelievable how much this thing weighs, I believe we calculated right at 100,000lbs. We will be draining completely, adding more fill and sand and reinstalling. 6/10Maintenance:Honestly maintaining it has been super easy. We don’t have any trees, bushes etc around our back yard so the only thing we get in it is dirt, grass clippings and bugs. We purchased one of the basic intex skimmer baskets that clamp on and float inside and it works pretty well. We might upgrade to an in wall skimmer at some point. I bought the cheap index kit skimmer and pole, a big brush to go on the end, and a wireless handheld skimmer. We use weekly shock packets usually the day after heavy use, and keep 3” tablets in the floater. We had to play around with the PH and Alkalinity but got it pretty spot on and has been clear since. The pump for this thing is excellent so far, super strong even with the skimmer basket attachment. Just don’t forget to backwash and rinse every couple weeks(probably more often if you get a lot of debris). We vacuum once a week or just as needed for maybe 20 minutes max. 8/10 (feel like it should come with some of this necessary stuff but I get it cheap pool the moneys in the accessories)Overall I would definitely recommend this pool. It is an affordable option to get into pools without spending a ton on a permanent above ground pool. I recommend expecting to spend at least double the cost of the pool for your setup, chemicals, and maintenance equipment. At first this was the project that just kept sucking money until we finally got everything we needed, now it’s been our favorite part of the yard for the summer.Pros:-Relatively easy setup-Affordable-Great Pump-easy to maintain-great way to get into pools and learn proper care without jumping into the hinge spend of fancier above ground poolsCons:-Doesn’t come with any Accessories-Ladder is junk, extremely wobbly and think plastic/metal-feet don’t stay on and are tiny-Cover is junk, will not stay on pool at all-May need readjusting
