Wow it works on Plaster lathed walls!
This looked too good to be true, simple piece of material with a magnet, but what intrigued me was the price and claim it would detect through plaster lathe walls, and I have very thick plaster lathe walls, so if it didn’t work it was just like the other fancy battery ones that don’t work, or are inconsistent and only work on Sheetrock if they work, but this time I could live with the cost. So I go and try it, bam, incredible and not just detect but soundly, quick and on the money that thing popped up solidly and easy! Dont waste your money on the the expensive fancy rip offs unless of course you have plastic screws!

Great for plaster walls
We live in a house built in the 40s and have plaster walls and it’s absolutely impossible to find a stud to nail things into this came highly recommended and we’ve really appreciated having it as we’ve decorated our house and fix things. It definitely does not 100% accurately find studs, but it’s way more helpful than a stud finder and can get you pretty close to where you need to be.

Fantastic For Finding Studs In Older Homes With Thicker Walls
Finding a stud in an older 1940's home where the walls are lath and plaster and thicker than the more modern 1/2" to 3/4" thinner drywall was always a nightmare. We tried so many different electronic stud finders in the $25.00-$40.00 price range over the years, but none of them work properly when the walls are not an even sheet of thin drywall. Our plaster and lath walls are not even in thickness, but rather 3/4" to over an inch thick in parts. The outside walls are even thicker being a cement type plaster over some actual layer of a cement type base. I purchased this Studpop magnetic stud finder based on the description that it will work on sheetrock (all studfinders work on this thin sheet), plaster (hardly any studfinders work on thicker plaster), lath and tile. This great tiny super strong magnetic stud finder works and works well! Even on 1 inch thick cement type plaster, that little popper snaps straight up when it finds the stud. When the walls are this thick, it won't stick to the wall as it will when the walls are only 1/2" to 3/4" thick, but that popper works perfectly! I only wish I would have found this Studpop, 3 stud finders ago- I could have saved all that wasted money. With no batteries, no calibrations needed, no mistakes ever, this is the best stud finder money can buy- and the best part is you don't need much money! The only warning on the package is, that the magnetic field can be harmful to pacemaker wearers- and my husband has a pacemaker/defibrillator, so I do all the studfinding. The magnetic field is really strong to be able to find nails buried in our thicker old cement type plaster walls. This is the only studfinder you'll ever need and what I love best about this 5 STAR studfinder is that Studpop is made in the USA- American money going to Americans- if only all our products could be like Studpop!

Decent, But Slower Than Expected
I had high hopes for the StudPoP® "Original", but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. While it does eventually find metal fasteners in studs, it's not as quick or effortless as advertised. You have to move it slowly and carefully across the surface, which makes it less efficient than other stud finders I’ve used. That said, it does work once you find the right spot, and I appreciate that it doesn’t require batteries. However, if you’re looking for fast, reliable stud detection, you might want to consider other options.
