Dwarf jade bonsai... I love you!
She's a beauty.. I'm VERY new to the bonsai game. Literally, this is my first one. I did a lot of research on bonsai trees to find out which would be best to start off. Jade arrived as expected, wrapped and taped to the high heavens, it took maybe 10 minutes to get her unboxed and the Styrofoam peanuts tickled me immensely!! All the leaves were in tact and bright green, the soil was still moist, but the top layer was shifted, (I'm sure this was done during the shipping process.) I wet the soil until it leaked through the hole at the bottom (READ THE INSTRUCTIONS PEOPLE.) Then I put her on a humidity tray, rocks won't arrive until tomorrow. The instructions say water every 5-7 days, other sites say allow it to dry out some, so i figure water every 10 or so days should be sufficient. I suggest purchasing the tray, fertilizer/food, bonsai soil and river rocks in advance! I also got the little water misting bottle to mix the fertilizer and bonsai tools, though I'm not sure if I'll be using them anytime soon. The little fisherman dude was an extra perk, his fishing pole is actually wood and string! You can put water on the side where little dude is fishing, I went with water colored crystals, changing the water in this pot is going to be a job, so I'm going to repot her at the end of the month. (Google said wait until late spring/early summer.) Ok, so none of the research on actual tree types mattered since I purchased the tree because my daughter's middle name is Jade... (stop judging me!) But she's the perfect addition to my meditation area, I'm going to see how it goes, she may just get a new cousin friend in the very near future.

Loses leaves
I wouldn’t advise purchasing this. The plant does well for a few weeks then loses leaves. These pics were after 2 weeks and now there are no leaves at all. And forget about getting help or support from the company. I went to their website and there isn’t anyway to contact them or chat with them or leave a review. Amazon needs to read the reviews here and they will see the same issue in each review. I purchased a grow light, followed the watering rules and still the leaves are gone. So sad and waste of money. Going to try to add a picture today.

Nice looking tree but problem with shipping.
It took 7 days to receive because they sent it to the wrong fulfillment center. I wish I would have took pictures of it when I received it cause it was much foller. After about 2 weeks I started loosening leaves. These picture's above are only half of the leaves I lost. I hope this dose have a insect problem. I have heard of people having this problem with trees they ordered from this company. It could also be from the long shipping time. See i order this in December and it took 7 days to get here im sure it put alot of stress on it.I will give a update if the tree dies. I know how to water these trees and have a grow lite above it so I know its not from that..P.s make sure your not over watering. I water it ones every 7 to 10 days seeing its inside and its winter. These trees hold the water in the leaves and the stem so they can go along time even when soil is dry.The way to know when to water is what till the leaves start to shervel up then u know it needs water. The leaves will plup back up after u water it. Thats the number 1 reason so many people end up killing this plant is by over watering..

Thriving
Wow, this Bonsai is thriving! It arrived quickly, packaged very well and intact. I have had it for a little over a month and have had very few leaves fall off. It is super easy to care for and so lovely to look at in my remodeled bedroom. I will definitely be purchasing another one or maybe 4. Lol.

Outstanding Bonsai
This little guy is great! I waited a couple weeks to write the review to ensure it had the proper time to acclimate to it's new environment. A few things to note: This is a Jade Bonsai and suitable for indoor/outdoor placement. If you are new to Bonsai, know where you intend to have the tree and make sure the one you like is suitable for such placement. As expected, some leaves fell during transit and while the instructions said you can lose up to 20% of foliage during acclimation, I found I lost only about 5% which was a nice surprise. The tree arrived trimmed and as advertised although more trimming will probably be required over time. The pot was exactly as shown and I was happy to find it even included drain holes in the bottom which is super important. I'm very happy with the purchase and would definitely buy again.

Looks good, not great
This is my first bonsai. I will try to update this review periodically with more information. The plant arrived in good condition and well watered. Mine does not look like the picture. It is definitely a lot more sparse and less "natural" looking. I'm hoping that some pruning will fix that over time. It also lost a few leaves on the first day, but seems to have really come alive after being watered and given sunlight. I'm sure 3 days in a box can't be too healthy for it.As other reviewers have mentioned, there are two holes at the bottom of the pot, so you'll need to figure out a way to deal with the water which leaks out.Update 9/23/2008: I would bump this review up to 4 stars, but Amazon won't let me. The plant still hasn't filled out much more and still does not look as good as the picture, but it has remained remarkably healthy with very little effort. I've kept it at my desk at work where it receives little if any sunlight. Watering it twice a week and occasionally moving it near a window for a weekend has kept it very healthy and green. I've received lots of positive comments from co-workers.
