They Have A Low Battery Alarm
I bought a newer truck. This can mean soy or plant based wire insulation (aka packrat food) so I bought a couple of these and a couple magnetic backed ones that flash only. It’s like a disco under the hood. These are harder to install compared to the magnetic backed ones as they have to hang from something (supplied zip ties). They do make some cool noises in sequence and one sounds brings to mind that of a rodent chewing or scuttling around.I would recommend hanging them from the loops that are not on the side of the battery as it will block the battery compartment. I did this thinking it would be easier is the battery was on top and had to take them down to change the batteries.About a month later I began to hear a faint beeping sound. I thought someone a few acres over let their car alarm go day and night and wondered if they were on vacation and when the battery would die. It went on day and night. Then a few nights later, with horror, I realized it was coming from my new truck. There was something terribly wrong and with all the computer components it is sure to be expensive.I read the manual finally and learned the door would lock and unlock by touch without pushing a button, how to unlock the floor mats, that the back window opens with a button and if I get stuck off road I can flip a switch and it will crawl out on its own, but I could find no reason for the beeping. This truck has a fit if there is a case of water on the passenger seat and it beeps if you change lanes without using a turn signal. I figured the computer was upset about something. But what?So I searched on line. There are dozens of forums and hundreds folks at wit’s end, paying thousands in diagnostics, gaslit by dealers and manufacturers, haunted by strange beeping noises coming from their trucks. The future looked bleak.Suddenly the thought came me that maybe these had an alarm. I looked under the hood again and one of them was clearly the source of the beeping. The relief was immense. The manual confirmed that they a have low battery alarm. It is a great feature.Recommendation #2 to read the manual.

Hopeful
Update 1 month later. I left the deterrent under the sink and honestly have not seen a mouse since. Perhaps that one was simply trying to get away? Anyway, as it stands I'm very pleased I was able to have this work and I retract my previous review.I had high hopes for these as I'm tired of traps that don't work and mice coming and going as they please. I wanted them for my RV but put one under the kitchen sink where we seem to have the most trouble. It's been there about a week with brand new batteries and last night apparently a mouse was unbothered by it and resumed it's place in my cleaned out drawer, ruining it yet again. It works like the instructions say in test mode. I bought the 2 pack so that's $53 down the drain. I am beyond disappointed. I'd return them but I threw the box away.

The chipmunks have left the property!!
I was very skeptical of these kinds of products but I was desperate, as my last car was TOTALED by mice and chipmunks only a month ago. The whole ordeal was a nightmare and I needed a solution that worked.I tried peppermint oil bags first and still saw the chipmunks running around the property and around the cars cars as usual, hopping right up under the engine like the little pests they are. Very annoying because those scented bags are expensive and were clearly not working at all. I also put used cat litter underneath the car where I parked and guess what the little buggers did? They brought some if it INSIDE the engine area as nesting material - gross, and another failure. So I bought and very easily installed one of these devices in mine and my husband's cars and walked away not feeling super hopeful about it, but ready to give them an honest try.I wasn't really thinking about it for a week or two until it hit me - I had not seen a SINGLE chipmunk on my entire property since I installed them! I typically see 2-3 running around the front of the house, the back patio, and the vegetable garden at any time. But I kid you not they are GONE. They packed up and moved out!I cannot believe these things actually worked! I am in absolute awe. I bought another one for my garden. shed and I bought the plug in one for my tool shed. I will diligently be checking these spaces and the cars once a month to replace batteries and investigate for rodent evidence to make sure they are still working.I'm so relieved to not have to worry about rodents for a while and I am very hopeful that these are a long term solution. Thank you so much!

More likely a rodent attractor than repeller
In my experience, this electronic rodent repellant is utterly ineffective and worthless. I installed it under the hood of my vehicle, and soon thereafter, and just overnight, rats or mice ripped up the Mercede's expensive under-hood insulation and used it to build a nest right on top of the engine, not far from where I had painstakingly installed this product. The attached photos show the nest, the mess where the rats had peed and the useless device. Very fortunately, Amazon provided GREAT customer service in sympathy and I could return it. (Note in the photos the chewed up under-hood insulation, and the useless rodent repeller nearby.)
