Seems to work
I purchased this for my gun cabinet to help regulate the amount of moisture inside of it. It seems to work good. The display on the front that shows the beads lets you know when to plug it in. Plugging it in just heats up the device to dry out the beads inside of it. Not recommended to plug it in and leave the residence as there is a good chance this could start a fire if left plugged in for too long. I'd recommend this but with caution.

OK but Sloppy Quality
I was intrigued by a “rechargeable” dehumidifier for my safe, as I was trying to avoid pulling the plug out of the back and drilling to run a wire, so I gave the Hornady a shot. It has quite a few reviews at an average of 4.4 so I didn’t hesitate.Overall, I’m fairly satisfied after a couple months. However the overall quality/quality control is kind of a mess.First off, as others have mentioned, the paper user manual says blue is wet, pink is dry, when in fact it is the opposite. I don’t even know how this happens considering the color changing indicator is the entire point of this humidifier. By the way, the sticker on the unit is correct, but contradicts the manual so you don’t know what’s going on when you first get it.Second, also related to color, the color gauge on the unit has a deep pink color for wet and deep blue color for dry. As far as my experience, it has ranged from medium pink to clear. I have not seen blue, even after being charged for two days, it only gets to clear for dry. Is the interior of my house too “humid” for a fully dry(blue)starting point? It’s a modern temp and humidity controlled space so I doubt it, also not during a humid time of year. Both these issues could easily be remedied if there were better quality control. I do not have a way to test humidity in the safe, but I do believe it is working
