The Curse of Monkey Island

This is truly a classic, completely entertaining from beginning to end. With a normal and harder "Mega Monkey Mode" the game maintains that classic Monkey Island charm. No matter how old I get, I still get stuck on the puzzles for an embarrassingly long amount of time (Quicksand anyone?) but every time I solve it (without a walkthrough, of course) I still feel a sense of triumph. Also by allowing you to choose your dialog you are guaranteed a slightly different game each time.The one note for Windows users with Vista, 7 or any model newer than 95' (Which in 2012 is probably most of us)the game will sometimes freeze and the dialog will constantly loop. There are several methods that can help fix that. You can set the game file to windows 95 compatibility mode or (what worked for me) install the original programming code ScummVM and copy all the files into a new folder and put on you hard drive. The program is under the GPL (General Public License)and free to use. Using it allows you to use all in game functions, even if the controls are a bit different. Just look at the readme for the hot keys. It also allows you to play without the game disk as long as the files from the disk are on the hard drive.Hope this helps new players that were fans of the new Tales of Monkey Island try this one out since it has not been re-released(at the time of this review) and enjoy one of the best games in the series.

I have been driving my friends and family insane "d'oot-d'oo"ing the Monkey Island theme song while waiting for my copy to come in.This is one of my absolute all-time favorite games. My family was a little late in getting a household computer, during the 90's, but we did for Christmas one year and I received this game. Let me tell you, this game is more fun than peeling a tattoo off a man using the sun and cooking oil, and stranger than a chicken with a pulley in the middle.Also, I want to throw out there that the seller provided me with an original boxed copy which came with the manual. If you're a collector, then you know to be jealous, because the box is soooooo hard to find. I took the burden so you wouldn't have to...you're welcome.

Absolutely love this game - I knew that before I got it. Only thing I have to say is that there should be instructions of some sort for how to use it on systems other than Windows 95. I hated that I had to go look through other reviews to find out how to use it. Also, it works perfectly on Scummvm but be aware that the window that you play in is really quite small and I cannot figure out how to make it bigger at all.

Nothing was wrong with the product. Just couldn't get it to work on our PC because this is for an older system. We still haven't gotten our money back. We mailed it back at the beginning of January.

The game, for the most part, works fine. Nothing wrong with the animation quality, but I do have to say that the sound quality is somewhat, "wonky", to say the least. Every so often, it keeps repeating itself, whether music or the voices, and it's RELENTLESS. I'm not sure if this is because of the computer I play it on or if it's the discs themselves. The case it came in isn't the best either, as the cover breaks off, and it' slightly chipped on the bottom. Despite that, it arrived really quickly, and I like the game so much that I can stand the repetitive sound for a while. Over all, it was a pretty okay buy.

This game is a great addition to the serise and is very much worth getting. If you're a fan of the monkey island serise ( and like most people I'm sure you are) you will deffinately enjoy this one. One note though, you won't be able to play this game on any computers after windows ME so make sure you look up scummvm and download the program which will help you play the game perfectly. It's free and safe

This was a gift to my son about 15 years ago. We were robbed and the game was among the items taken. My son turned 28 earlier this month and he asked for it again. It's one of his all time favorites!

Childhood game back in my life. Wonderful game, fantastic time, funniest game ever.
