These are thicker than the other Lego base plates but work great for great grandkids builds.

My perspective: I have 15K legos and have spent significant amounts of time playing with them. I also have had tyco, megablocks, kre-o, etc. so I know how things compare.What I bought this for: I was trying to find a quality board that would be cheaper so as to save when covering an entire room in base boards.Satisfaction: The boards are nearly perfect. Legos and Lego knock-offs connect just as well to these boards as to standard Lego boards. The price is amazing for the quality I got.List of differences:1. These boards are heavier than official Lego boards.2. These boards seem to be heavier duty than Lego boards; when I tried to scratch them they held up better against my fingernails than the official alternative.3. The boards are the slightest bit thicker than official Lego boards. I would say the difference is at the most, a mere .5 millimeters. This is not significant and should not matter at all given that these are base boards and not plates (if plates were off by that much I would give 2 stars at best). The only thing that should change with this increase in thickness is that if you are working on a massive project and are already 90% done but just need a few more baseboards, I would recommend sticking to Lego, as if you place these next to Lego boards on a level surface the difference is visible and if you build across boards it will have an exponentially increasing effect. I still rate this as 5 stars because in my situation it would be better for me to go with these boards and not use my Lego boards if I ever had a build big enough that this could be a problem.TL;DRThe differences between these and Lego boards are insignificant unless you are a hobbyist or professional working on the scale of 30K+ bricks, in which case you will want to see the boards for yourself because you will know better than I.

I bought this for our grandson to be used with a set of legos.He loves it.He builds right in the Base Playe which makes it much easier to do than building on a Less sturdy/flat surface.The plates are sturdy, work well with regular size legos and are durable and lightweight.Definitely worth the money.

They work just fine with lego and non lego brands. I read the reviews about Legos popping off, but that doesn't happen they are stuck on pretty good. The boards seem really sturdy and my 4 and 6 year old love them because they are so big 10x10. Great price for the product.
