Features: This RF Amplifier features low noise figure, is a LNA RF Amplifier. Generally used as a high frequency or intermediate frequency preamplifier for a wide range of radio receivers, as well as amplifying circuits of highly sensitive electronic detection devices. In the case of amplifying weak signal, the noise of the amplifier itself may be very serious, so it is hoped that this noise will be reduced to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the output. Application: LNA for the main mobile communication base station infrastructure applications, such as wireless communication transceiver card, tower mounted amplifier (TMA), combiner, Repeaters, and distal/digital wireless wide band end equipment application design. This RF low noise amplifier LNA is 50-4000MHz, NF = 0.6dB. Specifications: LNA:50-4000mhz NF:SPF5189Z LNA0:0.6 dB Amplifier: FM Size:34 x 25mm/1.33 x1.0inch Weight:10g Package Included: 1 x LNA 50-4000MHz SPF5189 RF Amplifier

Very well packaged .. nice build quality
These things are all over the map these days, as are the advertised claims of dB gain. This SPF5189 chip was from RTFM which has been adsorbed by Qovor, and can reasonably be expected to get about 12dB gain at 2.4Ghz with 5vdc at 90mA. It is sold as an LNA, so if it doesn't work as a PA booster for me, then no big deal .. it's all experimental here at my end. Just don't jump at the 30dB gain advertisements or you may well be disappointed. The datasheets are available on Mouser and probably Digikey as well. Also note, that this little puppy can dissipate 660mW, so you might consider some thermal solutions to keep it operating within it's temperature parameters, depending on it's operating environment. Cheers!

Did Not Work - Nothing But Noise
Using this on an RTL-SDR v3 dongle. Mine seemed to be dead on arrival. Hooked it up and I ended up getting zero amplification in the bands I was interested in. Additionally, on the FM broadcast band, the LNA did nothing but raise the noise floor so much that no FM broadcast stations could be heard. Returned it.

Doesn't work at all.
This unit not only doesn't amplify but it makes the signal quite a bit weaker! I doubt there's actually anything under neath the metal can. I connected a signal of -34 dB to the input and the output was about -50 dB so it actually loses 16 dB! Also the ground pins on the SMA connectors were not soldered to the board! They must have tried to use as little solder as possible and settled on none at all!

Just Trash
Unit is Trash. will Not work. Lost signal when connected to Hackrf One. Only draws 0.1mah Even dirt draws more mah then this will. SMA connetcors had to be resolder when it arrived and glued into place to make sure it will not brake. I had to cut my losses and just toss it in the garbage.

Big gain rolloff
I was hoping the gain would be flat to at least 3 GHz to use with my nano VNA.It isn't. The gain is down by 17 DB at 3 GHz.

Work as listed
This thing works great also fits the sma connection to my handheld radio as well .. and although not needed really helpful on tuning further frequencies on my HACKRF1

Great little LNA!
I wish I could delete my previous review. This thing is great, as long as you have a stable 5v supply.

doa
the amplifier did nothing, Signals lower than input Will return
