A good book. But there is a huge difference between the 3rd and 4th edition. 3rd edition book is much more appreciated than it.

I received my book on Thursday, a 4th edition book of FE by a group of 4 professors of U of Wisconsin. A brief review of ch#4,a key chapter on algorithm of FE, otherwise difficult to explain, showing a strong and clear cutting edge explanation. Leaving nothing behind, and revealing to its readers the depth of knowledge and experience of its authors. This book can get you going. The book is printed in India, so good luck for all students and engineers of India.

It is all too easy to use Finite Element Analysis software without truly understanding the theory behind it, but this creates a dangerous situation where you can become overly reliant on the results of the model without understanding all the assumptions made by the model.This book gives a thorough background into the theory and is a helps break down some of the mystery of finite element analysis. Most importantly, the book details how this theory can be executed in practise and gives examples on some situations.
