This is the book that I need.

There is a lot of power electronics books around. It is not my intention to rank this book compared to others, but rather to judge it on how much it was useful to me. After 15 years of graduation and working in different fields, I needed a power electronics book to bring me up to speed to work on some projects. This book has fulfilled its mission. It is a very practical and quite comprehensive book, covering most power electronics topics, including a chapter about renewable energy at the end. It also includes numerous examples, end-of-chapter problems with solutions and PSpice simulations. My only remark is that it has a 'hand book' rather than a 'didactic' style. Nevertheless, the explanations were good enough.

For some reason, there are very few up-to-date technical books that cover power electronics, even though almost all modern equipment uses the principles to drive motors, invertors and grid-tie eequipment.This is a very comprehensive book which would be accessible to A-level and above, certainly a great companion for a university student or post-graduate.It is clearly presented although it won't be penetrable by someone new to the hobby.

The book has the technical content that you would need for a power electronics course, but it has mistakes in the equations and, many times, has equations that are not solved and don't lead to any conclusion.
