Heats up the mattress very well.
Already used it several times and it really does heat up our mattress in our camper shell when the outside temperatures dropped below 30 degrees. With the long cord it makes it easy to reach the outlet. Set it at 7 for about 20 minutes but then drop it down to 1 for the remainder of the night. I noticed it doesn't drain the RV battery that much.

Great for good nights sleep while camping 🏕️
If you go camping and suffer trying to stay asleep at night because you’re freezing 🥶 this product is for you! Works great in our rooftop tent 😃 it’s like a cozy pillow you put underneath your sleeping bag.If you’re looking to power it with a basic battery pack you can use a smart plug to have it automatically turn on for every 15 minutes per hour. You don’t have to constantly keep it running all night. Good quality and light weight too.

Extremely efficient
This is an excellent brand and an excellent product. I car camp in my Prius and on cold mornings. I like to turn this on to warm me up and get going and important thing to know is that when you first turn this on set it to high so that it heats throughout completely. Once it's done that adjust it down to the level that you want doing this ensures that you're getting heat coverage across the whole. Pat.. Make sure that you don't have this pad folded over into itself for it will cause heat spots which are clearly stated in the directions. You want this completely flat and if you're using a mattress or cot tie it down on all four corners or pin it down on all four corners to make sure that it doesn't fold over

Crawl into a warm bed
This item works well. However do not try to compare it to Electrical blankets you are used to using at home. It takes a while to heat up the mattress, and I have found it takes far too long for my mattress to cool back down after I turn it down, or off. The coldest I have used it so far is in 45 degree conditions, and I left it on a setting of one and used 1 fairly thick blanket over a very thin blanket, over the sheet. Mostly I use it to preheat the bed then turn it off, or to it's lowest setting.I have it under a comforter under my bedsheet and cannot feel it, or the wires, or the safety pins you must use to pin it to the mattress. But there is no doubt it is on when you crawl into a toasty bed. Turn it on at least 30 minutes beforehand. The claimed 4 amp draw and the 5 amp fuse must be applicable only to the single model. I have the twin and it draws 6.2 amps. It cycles on and off frequently but silently, and the temperature dial is also the thermostat, so keeping it outside the covers will allow it to run more often( warm the mattress more) than if is is under the covers. The dial is numbered 1 through 7. It actually turns on at well below one on the dial. The Ciggy plug is one of the best designs out there. It fits snugly and does not warm up significantly. My Laptop can draw similar amperage through a ciggy plug, and it has partially melted the supplied ciggy plug.In my experience it will use a minimum of 1.5 amp hours per hour on the lowest setting. Keep in mind that alternator does okay at replenishing a battery that is below 80%, but will take forever to bring it from 80% to 100%. Using this product night after night without adequate driving or other charging source in between will abuse your battery, and eventually leave you needing a jumpstart, and after a few jumpstarts, a new battery. Do not believe that your 140 amp HD alternator can replenish a battery in under an hour. Batteries cannot accept those currents for very long(under a minute), if at all, and the OEM wiring cannot transmit it even if the alternator could produce it in the engine compartment, rather than a LaboratoryAlso a Marine/ dual purpose battery should be used as opposed to a starting battery. Starting batteries cannot handle deeper discharges and will self destruct prematurely. True Deep Cycle batteries are best for powering this heating pad, but 12 volt true deep cycle batteries are not that easy to find, and about 30% more expensive than regular starting or Marine batteries.Edit:3/1/14 3 winters later this product has failed. Well half of it has. I plugged it in last night and my amp meter said the current draw was half of what I expected to see, and only half the pad was getting warm. I recently cut off the ciggy plug and about 5 feet of wiring from it to the controller and replaced it with a better connector( Anderson powerpole). This resulted in much better performance as well as higher amp draw due to less voltage drop across the ciggy plug receptacle and connector. I am not sure whether it contributed to the failure or was the cause of failure.I'd hate to think the product was engineered with so little overhead on input voltages. They had to figure in battery charging voltages, the directions say to turn it on while still driving for best results. 3 winters is acceptable I guess, I roll over a lot in bed and I am not a light guy. I also am a little liberal in throwing things on the bed during the day.But I am Bummed as I did expect more than 3 winters from it. At least 5. Not sure if I will replace it with the same model. Not many options in the 12v variety though.

Game changer for campers
I live in colorado and discovered the mattress warmer as an excellent means to save money on heat bills in the winter. The room can be 40 or 50 degrees and so long as the bed is warm, it really doesn't matter, and its much cheaper. I found this product to take the same idea to camping (where the 12v is more efficient) and this replaces my need to mess with a propane or diesel furnace. Its incredibly warm, I have only ever gone to 4 out of 7. Its simple and worth every penny.
