It is very easy to hook up
The device works very well for an older CRT type TV, but the instructions provided are worthless. The output is for S-Video, VGA, or RCA only. It does not have a cable connection. It is very easy to hook up, but if your TV has a Video channel or setting, as mine does, that is where it works. It will not work on any other channel. Once set up, it will display whatever is on your computer monitor. I have an S-Video connection on my older TV, so have not tried the RCA plug. You will need separate speakers, as this device is for video only. Picture quality can be adjusted, so play with it until you get it to your liking. Overall, this thing works well, but have children leave the room while connecting it. It seems to require a bit of swearing to get it to work.

Inexpensive solution for streaming video from a computer to and old TV
We have a really old TV in our workout room and the only inputs it has are coax and RCA (yellow, red, white). When we want to stream shows from our laptops to the TV, we use this gadget and it works like a charm. For audio, we use a bluetooth speaker. If you have a really old TV, this is a very inexpensive solution for streaming TV.

The quality was absolutely horrible coming from the S Video out
I bought this item, so that I could play out on it's S Video out, any video that I might be watching on my monitor output. The quality was absolutely horrible coming from the S Video out. There is a little one page translated from Chinese instruction sheet, showing the menu options. But no instructions on how to use it. I tried to set my screen res at different values. I even downloaded some extra drivers, hoping I might find one that worked. My recommendation, just get a real good with an S video out. You might spend $200... but you get what you pay for.OR... buy yourself a set of X Ray Specs, from the back of a comic book. You will be much more amused.

Good Description: Good Performance
Shipping; GoodDescription: GoodPerformance: EH!!! it works but there are lines though the TV and Monitor which I split to.I've used other Video cords and power supplies.. still there.I use this for karaoke to convert the signal from my laptop to a TV and/or 24" monitor... Lines through the video stay either way.Oh well, you get what you pay for.

Does not look like this thing is of value to me
I was totally dead, it would not even pass through VGA in VGA out to same monitor. Very frustrated. Then saw another review, which said wait 10 seconds after pwering before making connections. So tried it (I have Win7 PC i7).Still black, Plug VGA cord direct to PC monitor, Win7 recognizes it and makes ping and it works, put it back through this box, black screen and no ping. Then realizing I have a TV that is hooked up as 2nd monitor via HDMI wondered if disconnecting that would help.Bingo first time even a pixel when through box and am on the PC monitor VGA-VGA right now typing this. It is softer than the screen was before, but have not got into the menu yet.The instructions should state both the 10 second power up 1st as another reviewer mentioned, and having only one display or at least not a HDMI 2nd screen (TV in this case, planned designation of the converter), VGA to S video was the objective to get to TV.Have since hooked it up to 27" LCD TV screen with both the S and RCA connector. It makes it 4x3 by cutting off right and left, unlike the VGA to PC monitor and even the VGA out does this to TV. It also has overdriven colors, and went through menu and could fix none of these issues. So it does output S and RCA, just in wrong aspect ratio and with very low quality. The VGA pass through to PC screen has correct colors and aspect ratio, but is softer. Does not look like this thing is of value to me.

It works!
I've got a Mac. This is supposed to work with Mac and PC.At first it didn't work and the instructions are worthless. I discovered a few things that will help you get this working nicely.Don't boot up with this thing plugged in to your computer, you're inviting grief. I found that you have to boot your computer up first and bring up the video you want to view, but don't go to 'full screen' yet.Next plug in the USB power cord from the converter into your computer and count to ten. Then plug in the video cable. After you get a good picture, then go to 'full screen' mode (if that's how you want to watch). After a couple seconds, the gizmo will give you an image identical to what's on your computer. This thing only does video. You'll need an audio patch cord to get sound through your TV.I turn the monitor brightness on my Mac all the way off. It doesn't affect the brightness of the image on the TV, and it's less distracting having the screen black on the Mac.I'm sure some genius will figure out a way to do this all wirelessly, but until then I've been pretty happy with this little unit.

Doesn't Work
Just like everyone else said.... it does not work! I purchased one like this from a local PC store later on for $49, skeptical, and it works just fine. This one didn't even try to work. Usually when you plug something into a computer's VGA port, it does something, like ask you if you would like to either mirror your desktop or expand your desktop... Nope... nothing. It's like it is not getting power or something. The other one I purchased has a small red LED that lights up when you attach the power cord to a USB, which by the way is the only power cord that comes with the converter box. This one did not light up... did nothing.Definitely do not buy this item as it does not work.I guess the most disappointing part is that it came in the mail the day before a karaoke gig I had and I did not have time to play with it before karaoke. Then when it did nothing, I ran around trying to find a VGA monitor to set up in the middle of my dance floor so that people wouldn't have to come behind my DJ booth to see the words.... frick'n awesome!Try something that works Monkey Man!
