This is a brilliant book—scholarly without being arcane, descriptive and instructional without being dryly technical or salaciously titillating. And for me as a Vajrayana practitioner, a long time coming. The first half of this book is as clear a description of Vajrayana as I have encountered. For that alone I am gratefull.While people will either be drawn to or repelled by karmamudra as a sexual practice, it is clear that Dr Nida's goal is to contextualize the subtle body practices as a means of liberation within Vajrayana. Perhaps because he is trained as doctor of Tibetan medicine, his approach to teaching this is grounded in our lived, psycho-physical experiences.Dr Nida makes sure that by the time we get to the chapters on karmamudra (aka tantric sex) we see it in the larger context of Vajrayana Buddhism. The subtle body instructions he gives are easy to understand and rewarding to add to one's daily sadhana.While not disparaging kama sutra, he makes clear the differences between the two-- karmamudra as an ecstatic means to liberation and kama sutra as artful lovemaking. Dr Nida's teachings on karmamudra are also refreshing in that they are lgbtq friendly.I appreciated the introduction to this book which contextualizes the Yuthok Nyingthig tradition of Vajrayana and Dr Nida’s perspective with clarity and eloquence. I also appreciated the appendices of karmamudra primary texts, giving credibility to this sometimes misunderstood area of study.

I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It is not a stodgy academic study, nor a scintillating new age presentation of tantra. The author gives a thorough, balanced and open presentation on the topic, more complete than any other text that I am aware of. The one limitation, which the author clearly intended, is that it does not go into the more esoteric practices of karmamudra. You still have to go to a master for that. But I can understand and appreciate the author's intention in that restriction. Overall, very well done.

A very compassionate and lucid look at Vajrayana and Karmamudra practice. An amazing book written from an ultimately inclusive point of view regarding gender and sexual orientation issues. A functional meditation practice manual, within the guidelines of what it is appropriate to teach in a public book. Recommended reading for those interested in sexual alchemy, Tibetan Buddhism, or Tibetan medicine.

excellent spiritual and medicine teacher, would highly recommend anyone involved in either to attend one of his live events. This Karmamudra book is so groundbreaking and revolutionary on so many levels. offering a concise and clear understanding of vajrayana as well as speaks to many elephants in the room that have needed to be addressed for a long time. This is one of the most important works on human sexuality ever produced.

This is the worst of the lot - translation terrible (as usual), teaching low-brow neo tantra dressed up as something else. Which is how this lot roll. Move on.

If you really want to understand feminine and masculine differences and are serious and love man-kind /woman-kind then this book is the best on the market right now! This will heal the world. Understanding your body and the intelligence within it is essential to all of us. Just buy the book and turn the telly off = it is worth it. Not for those who don't like reading and thinking though. This makes you think and especially good for Buddhists, but also serious spiritual seekers = all.

Good One,book is for advanced students of tantra..May indigestible for new students..Which supposed not to reveal to everyone unless they are initiated by a qualified vajra master
