Q: Could this be used by someone sitting on the edge of their bed watching tv or does it need to be wedged up against something to stop it moving?

I use it in bed but against the headboard. It might work, overall I am very impressed! It provides good support and you can increase the rigidity by inflating it more. Worth a try would be my suggestion. Best of luck

I have it against a headboard - so no, it doesn't topple.

Q: It keeps deflating after a few hours..Do I need to seal the hole with glue or something? I cannot see any other holes, and tested the air many times.

There might be a small split in a seam somewhere. Mine was great then same as yours kept deflating had a small split at seam. Returned it no problem.
