Right out of the box, it looks pretty basic, but comes with all you need to use the lamp though. Comes in white and black, but I selected black because it matches the color of my desk. Comes already assembled on a (quite heavy) base to be used on the top surface of a desk/table/workbench, but they also included a clamp to allow you to mount that lamp on the side of a desk/table/workbench, if it's what you prefer.Lamp is a wired one, so it will need to be plugged in in order to work, and does not have batteries. Lamp has a USB cable connected to a USB power block. Which mean that it will also be compatible with all other USB power devices you may already have on your desk, so no need to use an extra plug for it in such case. I find that being very useful for me actually.Lamp brightness can be adjusted with a knob, which is smooth when moved and don't have any notch on it. That way you can fine tune the light you need without having to fight with those notch like some other model have. The light is also pretty bright, and so far I never needed to turn it to its full 100% power. The lid on the magnify glass is also super useful to avoid dust to deposit on it, and having then to clean it all the time with a cloth before use.Overall, I am very happy with it and would totally recommend it to anybody working for instance with small electronics like myself.

It's exactly the right size for my needs, the 5x magnification is exactly what I need for very fiddly work, and the dust cover over the lens is much appreciated. The table base is exactly the right weight to hold it steady with nice rubber feet to avoid scoring the tabletop (haven't used the included table edge clamp). When plugged into a 110VAC outlet, the dimmable LEDs can range from barely noticed to way beyond equatorial noon sunlight including all points in between on an analog knob so you'll certainly find exactly the light level you need with this (haven't tried running it only on USB power)..The only thing that makes this item 4 stars instead of 5 is that the power cord is "only" 4' long. That's actually generous by today's sad standards so props to Psiven for giving us that much. However, this only really works if you use this item on a workbench that's rammed up against a wall with outlets on said wall at tabletop level. But if you're working on a table in the center of a room, you'll need an extension cord to reach outlets at floor level on the surrounding walls. And this extension cord needs to be long enough to reach from the outlet across several feet of floor then up several feet to the tabletop, and then along the tabletop far enough to stay there despite gravity while still giving this item freedom to be repositioned on its tabletop base, so that there's no tension on this item's cord. This is because this item's power cord ends in a USB connector that plugs into an AC adapter just like a cellphone charger, so any tension on the cord will pull the USB connection apart.But otherwise, this is a fine product!. If the cord was about 12' long, it would be 5 stars in my book. But that's just my situation, and the 4' length of the cord might be due to limitations of the USB connection. I know nothing of such things. And I suppose the ability to plug this item into a USB port might be useful to some folks although not to me. But I personally would prefer a 12' cord with a permanently attached AC adapter.

Using this lamp mostly for cataloging my stamp collection, and it works like a champ! The dimming adjustment on the lamp is a great feature, and when you couple that with 5X magnification it's a "home run! Used the "desk top clamp" option to mount it off to one side of my main work area, and I can easily swing it to where I want when needed. Did have one minor operational issue upon initial receipt, but problem was rectified immediately by Emily in Customer Service. Overall I couldn't be happier!

I use this lamp next to my sewing machine to see my stitching. I like it’s brightness and magnification but I do wish that the base was a little heavier so when I bend the flexible neck half way or more it won’t tilt over.

I love this light and magnifier. An extremely sturdy unit. Comes with a heavy base and a clamp allowing you to use it virtually anywhere. Great value for your money.

Decent lighted magnifier for the price depending on how you're using it. I think it really needs a heavier base and a longer arm to be really useful. I wanted to use it to hand sew some items while I sit on the couch, but this really isn't designed to work that way. If the lamp is on a side table, it can't get anywhere near your face or hands, so I have to put the base under my thigh and try to stabilize it. I don't use it that often, so I just deal with it, but this is definitely meant to use at a desk or brought to a counter or table to use. The light is bright enough for hand sewing, fixing small items, etc. It does tip over pretty easily.

Mom has macular degeneration, needs alot of magnification and light to read/see. She's always holding a magnifying glass while trying to look at things thus only has one hand available. Did alot of research on these magifying glasses on stands. This one is the only one I saw that has 5X magnification on the entire lense, not just a quarter size. The LED light is very bright. My Mother loves this thing, she can use 2 hands and see. I would have given it 5 stars except for two things. It falls over immediately if you try to bend the gooseneck forward AND the gooseneck could be a little longer. To solve the tipping over I took a three pound disc weight, wrapped it in black wet sit material and just set it on the stand. Actually looks like it came with it and does not slide off. Works great. Build it with a heavier base and longer gooseneck and it is perfect.

Bought this on a whim, not sure what would arrive but wow am I ever glad I got this. It gives incredible amount of light and magnification, easy to move or re-position, controls respond to a rotary dimmer, which is great as it provides precise control over brightness level.The stand is portable and stable enough for my uses, and it comes with a heavy-duty clamp, easy to use hands-free!

Bigger base than I thought. The light works well. Find it a little harder to get the magnifying glass into a position that works to see what I'm doing without any blurriness around edges.
