Extensive Review: This unit doesn't convert Xbox360 movie DVDs, but does play console and games.
I bought one of these, thought it was bad and returned it for another. I am connecting my Xbox360 into the Porta and outputting that HDMI to my new Samsung 4K UHD TV. The game console works and I can play games...HOWEVER...when I try to play a DVD movie on the Xbox my TV loses signal from the device and my screen goes blank. This happened on both units...identical problems. My hunch is that these Porta devices are not HDCP 2.2 compliant...and my new 4K TV is HDCP 2.2 compliant on all 4 HDMI ports. This only happens when I play movie DVDs. I have written the company for tech support ([...] , in China) but I don't have much confidence I will get any assistance with this issue. Another possibility is that the unit it doesn't know how to convert Region 1 DVDs...but I doubt this is the issue as HDCP seems more logical. However, I have another RGB converter (from "C&E Component/VGA to HDMI" that has gone bad, no red signal) that is 4 years old which IS allowing DVDs to play to my new 4K TV. And I def know that unit is not HDCP 2.2 compliant...thus I am not too confident in my HDCP analysis. Regardless of the reason, this Porta isn't allowing DVD movies to play.UPDATE 1: sending 2nd Portta back and ordering another converter from C&E...not the identical one mentioned in previous paragraph but just the straight Component to HDMI converter since I don't need VGA this time around. However, this unit is advertised as "HDCP v1.3" which makes me think it may not work like the Portta didn't. If this doesn't work then I will just re-order a new Component/VGA to HDMI again and be done with it.UPDATE 2: I grabbed my older Samsung LCD TV (2007) to test this Portta device. Xbox360 -> Portta -> TV HDMI. Powered up the Xbox, saw the console come on the TV, played a game just fine...put in a movie and the screen went blank. So the same problem is happening on older TVs too and technically it should be an issue with the older TV because the 2007 TV is not going to have the same HDCP OR the same HDMI. And as best I can tell the older TV manual says to use HDMI 1.3 Cable...thus I assume those HDMI ports are v1.3 (there is no other reference to HDCP or HDMI version number in the manual).CONCLUSION : This Portta is def having some kind of HDCP issue. Plays games and the console just fine....but it can't convert DVDs due to what I believe is this HDCP issue. I have now purchased an updated version of the C&E Component to HDMI converter (to replace the aforementioned (Update 1) component/vga one that was going bad) and will post my testing with it here.

Works but triggers copyprotect on dvds
The converter works for my application with a ps3 however with DVD playback it goes black. Ive tried on a TV with rgb inputs and seems to work fine there. Using a composite to HDMI converter doesnt trip copy protection either, yet this rgb to HDMI converter does. Blue LEDs are terrible for dark environments so thats points off. Otherwise there isnt any color shifting like with the composite box.

It does what is supposed to do.
This was used to convert the component video and stereo audio from a VHS/DVD player to HDMI so it could be routed through a newer receiver that doesn't have component video inputs. Works as expected.

Works great!
I got this so I could continue using my Nintendo Wii when I got a new tv. The picture quality is great and the device was very easy to hide behind my TV.

This solved my problem
I bought a news smart tv and had to connect my Boss Lifestyle system to it. This was the miracle that worked for me.

Works great.
Simple installation. It would not have been needed if TVs still allowed component/composite inputs.

Thought there was a problem at first.
The picture had a strong pink cast to it at first, but after a bit of googling and fettling,I found that the dvd player output setting was set to RGB, but when changed to VIDEO out, everything was fine.

Great product
I recently purchased the product and have been quite pleased with it so far!! Before it I'd been using the regular component (ypbpr) cables to connect my PS2 to my HD screen and I have to say, the resolution increased and the clarity of the games drastically. If you're like me and the nostalgia hits you sometimes, I definitely recommend the product. Make sure that you change the video output in the PS2 settings to ypbpr from RGB, otherwise it won't play
